Heat reduction hood

Post by hesa123 »

Hi Guys and Ladies,

I am a new member in the AD4x4-Club, and I am owning a 2009 Wrangler.

I am looking for a heat reduction hood similar to the attached picture. I saw a few Wrangler outthere with this kind of hood.
Is this somewhere localy available in UAE or do I need to order it from the US?

Looking forward that the summer is over and I am able to join some of your tours. I am in UAE since 1997 and spend the first 8 years in the desert with a Grand Cherokee lifted and Shahin tires. I was impressed about the off-road capability of this car.
My wife is complaining since years that she want to go back to the desert. So I was "forced" to make the necessary steps.

Regards,

Henning

Hallo Henning!

Willkommen im Club :D

1. Dein Post ist im falschen Forum ... hopefully somebody moves it to technical and mods ;)
2. The Image is showing the heat reduction hood from AEV (US!) on a JK!
3. This same hood is available at Western Motors (local Jeep dealership in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain) as part of their so called Tornado II kit. So theoretically no need to order it from the US...
4. sh_jeep (clubmember in sharjah) has the much cheaper Gen-Right 5 pieces hood louver kit on his JK hood
(5. my Gen-Right kit will be fixed on my TJ possibly this weekend  ) http://www.genright.com/ProductInfo.asp ... id=LVR1009

cu soon hopefully on one of our trips ... check the trip manager regularly for a ANIT or newbie trip and the corresponding announcements ;)

Nice to see you find your way to AD 4x4.... :D

As SSS already mentioned, western motors would be the best choice to get the hood from. They also have an very good painting station which gives an good resuld, even if the paint has already some fading.

The hood will not let your wrangler run cooler! It just reduce the heat in the engine bay. This helps the plastic parts to survive longer. Check if your wrangler has the transmission oil cooler. That's quite impotent for your auto tamy.
