Early Bird Trip Report

Post by Uristier »

The day started @ 2 am when xof de-registered before going to sleep. The wake up call for Gogo at the meeting point was obviously toooooo late and both missed a fun.  :verysleepy:

Woodpecker, Xtreme, TINTIN and I started our on road trip towards Al Khatim. After passing Bani Yas the fog was increasing proportional to the distance between Abu Dhabi and our position while the temperature was decreasing to 23°C. 8O

At the “original” deflation point we decided to move onwards to Al Khatim. There it wasn’t much better but we deflated and started our trip on an “easy” track into a rising day. Driving in the sand AND in the fog was a new :woo: but interesting experience for some of us.

Some stucks and recoveries (the winch was of no help) and we reached the track towards Al Khazna. Here it was time for a coffee break/breakfast.

The fog was stable and we decided to move again – towards the sun. We all know that the sun rises in the East and this was our direction. We changed the direction in Remah heading South and East again for leaving our tracks in the nice dunes between the Al Ain highway and the truck road.

We did not catch worms but a biiiiig lizard stopped the convoy for a while. He wouldn’t let us drive through his territory. :nono: :nono:

The time was moving faster than our convoy and we left the dunes in Al Saad around midday.

It was an interesting trip and I enjoyed it, especially after the second start. It was worse getting up early.

Cheers
Uristier :woo: :woo:

Thanks Urs for this wonderful trip, and yes, it was absolutely worth waking up a 4 am.
I had a long nap, just from 2:30 to 6:30 pm.
It was a new experience driving off-road in heavy fog, and soft sand, but we all survived.
Round 2 was better and faster with some nice stucks, but we all had fun and enjoyed the bigger and more challenging dunes.
Urs, thanks for the instructions and advices, it was really helpful, and I owe you a parking ticket.
It was nice to meet Woodpecker and Tintin.
Guys let's do it again some time.

:cheers1:

WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! What an eventful day. I managed to get stuck even before we got to the deflation point and due to the for nobody realized I was gone for 10 minutes. :|
After fixing that problem we had a nice and challenging drive through some pretty thick fog which was a first for me so that was nice.
The route was very interesting with some technical (and not so technical) stuck along the way.
The lizard encounter was interesting. Had a strange resemblance to somebody we all know :iguana1:
Seeing the thermometer reading 23 made me feel a little :itscold: and reminded me that :xmax: is around the corner.
Well it was nice to meet a new face and to catch up with the old faces.
I hope you get your winch sorted soon Urs, what a pain that was.

Any way, off to bed now. Gotta be up at six tomorrow for work

Looking forward to next time.

Hi Urs, Xtreme an TinTin,

Today I waked up at 11:30h ... a little bit tired from the early wake up call from Yesterday :verysleepy:

But I really enjoyed the trip with the yery small group. The first part was a little bit to foggy, but the second part was GREAT :bravo:

I learned a lot ... how to get stucked and how to recover  I was funny ... all of us get stucked at least once :grr:

Thanks to Urs for the great ride on the dunes and teaching me. Thanks to Xtreme and TinTin for helping me and for enjoying the day together :driving:

Good night to all and best regards to Heidi and Teresa

Hi Urs,
Can you please create an album in the gallery, so that we can post some pics.
I have only about 5, but others have a lot of shots, so please post it.
