First off - we missed you Mac, and hope your Jeep is back on the road soon.
5 cars met on time - Tutan, SoupDragon & MoonBear, Triplod & Anne and Eric and Elias - straight to Al Khatim Adnoc for the usual olllllllo fuel top up and straight to the deflation point.
Initial plan was to do Taher's route which is just off to the left half way down the road leading to the desert, but we ended up exploring a real nice play area to the left of that with some good crests and interesting little tricky bits. Sand was good - but still soft in a few areas to test us
We stopped around 6 ish and left the desert safe and sound to reinflate at 7pm.
SoupDragon - you did great today. I think it fair to say that your confidence noticeably grew during the trip as you were comfortably cresting at the end of the trip
MoonBear, you are definately a thrill seeker and hope to see you sharing some of the driving soon on the sand Tutan - love your new ride - inshallah you will have lots of fun and enjoyable trips from now on without your old worries
Eric - thanks for being the 'strap-master' and putting it to use a couple of times in the soft stuff - a trip's not a trip unless you've got your strap out Elias - you deserve a medal for chasing Rashid over a dune!
Thanks also to Paul for 2nd leading and choosing a nice route as lead in the 2nd half. Looking forward to seeing the pics in the gallery, Anne
Another good day with good friends with AD4x4 - a great way to end the weekend!

Excellent trip thank you very much Jax. it was, in my opinion, an ideal number of cars and ensured that everyone had a great day out.
I thoroughly enjoyed testing the abilities of my new ride, I am having to learn a whole new driving style as i have gone from Manual to Automatic ( a strange direction some would say, but needs must ) , some of it is easier, some if it is frustrating but i was very pleased as for the first time in a long time, nothing fell off or broke....... well not off the car anyway.
Have to do a small modification to my new aerial mount, the nav pole is a bit heavy for the glass mount.
But all in all i succesful day out and the important thing is
i am back............................
See you all on the sand again soon
(photos will be posted in next couple of day)

Thank You Very Much Jackie
This was your trip not mine due to sick Jeep. Thank you very much for taking over, everyone seems to have had a great time. No more trips for me for some time due to hols and EID with family in Mussandam,
I will seek out crumbly Lancs cheese for you in UK. I am not sure if Uncle Jo will be happy if I bring his mint balls back though

Thanks Jax and the rest of you for this trip. I must say it was really great and both route leaders did a great job finding new places to explore. I was more than happy to sweep and as Jax mentioned I got to use my strap a couple of times. Unfortunately all did very well but it just prove that exercises and training works.
C U all soon again InshAllah

Thanks very much for the trip Jax!
Really, really enjoyed it (my fave yet).
Didn't know I could drive up & down dunes like that (bring me more!).
Erik, thanks for all the words of advice (and the recovery).
I really enjoyed the trip and that was mainly down to the group - you were all brilliant and made it great fun.
Looking forward to the next one.
