Sunrise on the Sands of Al Hayer...!!

Post by KiwaussieChick »

Well what a trip!!!

Whilst a number of people couldn't make the trip in the end - I would like to extend my warm thanks & congratulations to those who did - Erol, Morpheus, YYZ, Aidy, Nuclear & G-Man - I think we can all agree we had fun in some of the most amazing Newbie (+) territory in the UAE!

Unfortunately, despite Jax valiantly trying to continue her marathon weekend with little sleep :woo: - her Jeep 'dropped its bearings' before we even made it to Sweihan ... Thank you Mans for going to wait for the AXA pickup - a true knight in shining armour!!

Whilst our start was slightly delayed with reorganising the trip - our intrepid adventurers from Abu Dhabi, Dubai & Sharjah all deflated and rounded the first few bends of the track at around 6am to see the sun rising brilliantly over the sillhouetted mountains of Oman. A quick 2wd 'sprint' towards the border fence led us to a nice ridge from which to enjoy some of the early morning before we engaged 4wd to play...!

The sand was brilliantly coloured & for the most part the hardest you'll find anywhere in the UAE at the height of summer; the dunes were almost endless, our elevation amazing and we played through to our descent to the forest below for a relaxed breakfast. Mmmmmm!!

Morpheus & YYZ as the two newbies on the trip challenged themselves and grew in confidence remarkably as we progressed through more morning play & we certainly had a few technical recoveries that enabled plenty of shared learning! Special thanks to Lucknow & G-Man for their work along the way!! :bravo:

Aidy led the main group out just before 10am whilst a small group of advanced drivers remained to fun themselves for a little longer before retiring to inflate under the palms around midday...!

Thank you all for a fantastic time & hope to see some great pics!!!

:D :D :D

I am really sorry that i was unable to make this trip, but i just knew that trying to drive in the desert after a long time away from it, in a new car with very little sleep was a bad idea.

Role on the winter when we dont have to get up so early to go
.
