Wake up trip 31-07

Post by Aidy »

8 cars safely in. 8 cars safely out. What a BLAST!!!!! Meeting was Adnoc Sweihan at a sharp 4.30am and everybody was on time. Off to the deflation point (still night) and weather hovering at a comfortable 26 degrees. After a short briefing and deflation, we started heading in towards Al Ain Airport. Amazing scenery and beautiful dunes.

Short stop later on around 7 for some breakfast coffee & tea. Everybody chit chatting and getting to know each other.

At around 9, weather not that "comfortable" anymore but the sun was a little shy (lucky us), headed out through a shortcut led by Mac. Was surprised too that gravel road lead to more dunes :o and safely back to Adnoc for a quick inflation & off home.

Pleasure to meet you Mac and thanks for all the guidance & assistance throughout the trip.

KGhaleb thanks for the support & especially the garden shower

Ultramind, thanks for the help in planning the route.

Thank you Icet-tea, Olejl and autoscriptor (glad to see u after a long while). Really enjoyed everyones company.

One new timer (Jetski) who amazingly also had his own 1st successful recovery try as well  . Guess u know now why we're addicted :)

Thanks again all and hope to see u all soon on "Wake up trip II"

Ahmed

Thank you Aidy, for a wonderful & well organised trip. You picked a great newbie route, the weather was great, the people were great, all round just a great trip.
We sweated in the heat with the pop outs, but that is the fun of leading eh!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast stop under the tree, even if I did get the flagpole stuck up the tree!
Jetski was great today on his first trip with us.
Hope you lead some more trips, I enjoyed today, cannot make next week as I,m off to Salalah.....oh and thanks for spotting my watch.

Freelander Recovery

Post by autoscriptor »

Was able to upload this video on Youtube yesterday. One of the very few recoveries we had to do :-) Click to open video in Youtube
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Aidy, this happens with the majority of Youtube videos. I even got the same message although the video is mine and I know it's there. It's an ISP issue I guess. From work, everything works. From home, where I connect through an Etisalat line, usually I will have to connect through a VPN to have all video s work and not see that message.

Advice: try different browser, time of the day, or use a VPN if you have one. Anyway, if you know of a different video sharing website, I can upload the video there as well.

Thanks for the dedication Ahmed. That's really nice. Probably I will need few of these videos in the future because I need to be disciplined and stop doing crazy stuff like this. That's why my wife stopped joining me in desert drives. Anyway, here is a little advise for all the crazy folks out there: CLOSE YOUR WINDOWS. This @#$%^& sand is very hard to clean.
