10 cars left Abu Dhabi just before 2.30 reaching Sweihan for a quick refuel for the olllllllo's - then off to hit the Sweihan sands!
As usual I missed out the sabkha on the way to the BBQ tree and headed into the higher dunes We weaved our way eastwards rolling with the dunes finding some nice slipfaces and easy crests, a few soft spots but everyone coped really well! :okaay:
Best bit was coming over and down a very long but gentle slipface just before the BBQ tree - gotta start practicing for Liwa sometime - it was great watching the expressions on the passengers as they went over the top! Fantastic job there guys
We headed to the BBQ tree but Simon (H3) had suffered a double pop-out on the way - so Tom ('The Wynns') and I retraced and helped refit the tyres. Big thanks to everyone who stayed and waited for us to get Simon mobile again.
We then went for a play around the back of the dune - this was the best part for me, watching everyone return from the play-area with BIG smiles - the smiles grew even bigger as one of the groups from Al Ain airport made an appearance over the top of the dune - awesome!
Returning back to the BBQ tree to meet with the rest of Off-road's & Bulldozer's group and had a relaxing BBQ under the stars with a cool breeze.
Thanks to Off-road for suggesting the trip, Simon, Yehia and Viking for sweeping & recovery (although we only needed to get the straps out once ), Ole (fantastic job as 2nd lead), Pajero -Can-Do-It (hope your daughter enjoyed her 1st safari), Kevin (does it to Mozart! ), Granty (I think your passenger is hooked ), Maddog (cool as always) and Tom - the water man.
You guys were great company and I enjoyed every minute leading you today!

A great trip with great people as usual. I am so glad you missed the sabkha since we ended up in a really nice area and the slope was really nice. My family really enjoyed the trip and for me only one thing was not as good as I expected. Almost no stucks and I only got to recover one car although it was a jeep
So the conclusion is:
Nice trip and route Jax and everybody did so well.

Hey Jax
Thanks again for the great day out.
My Dad really enjoyed it and will be taking some good pic's (and sand!!) home to NZ with him. To all of you that were there, cheers. Dad made the comment "what a great bunch of people". From what I've seen of AD 4x4 so far, I'd say he hit the nail on the head!
Pity we couldn't stay for the BBQ, took the option to head out early behind JC, but hope it was a good one for you all.
Good lead Jax, nice route, and good fun.
