What a great day ! Team Dune Tacklers met at the Entrance Point and practiced
a little before approaching the start point.
After getting the map and the waypoints we sat down and decided on the first direction
to head off. Burkhard's tips at the briefing were taken as a guidance. Our formation
was: Wolle and Fox alternating in lead and sweep, WhiteX second lead and custodian
of the map and stamp sheet. We encountered long very soft stretches due to the heavy
wind which had heaped up a lot of loose sand which had not yet settled.
Spotting the flags was perfect, no walking needed at all. Two new GPS receivers were
tested and proven to be well suited for the task.
A nice extended picknick with chatting was held at the Rub Al Khali restaurant in the great
plain.
As we had decided not to go for a win, but just to have fun and practice, we returned
to the finish point early and called the day, full of memories.
A big THANK YOU to Wolle and White X, it was great to be out with you, this was a
perfect team with great spirit and wonderful co-operation !
See you all again soon. Here is the track of the Dune Tacklers:

Dear All:
a big thanks to my teammates Fox and Wolle. and a huge thanks to event organizers. great trip, challenging soft sand and finding a few flags in alpine locations . great opportunity for learning, getting stuck, recovering. i think we did it all. also, i set a personal record for how much sand i could bring back to Abu Dhabi inside my car and on my person.

Great post, I guess we could compete with you Bob on the Kilos of Sand we brought back from Desnav 2013. Interesting thing is, we learned so much about sand and yet theres so much more to learn....I need to keep going in and bring some back every time...

Re: DesNav 2013, Dune Tacklers Report
Hallo And first of all a big thank you to the dedicated group of people who made this event possible,Thank you all so much.
For the dune tacklers, seen the fact that we have been the oldest team in the field we should call our selfs the Senior Dune Tacklers.
I do not know what we acieved on points, but I am sure we had more stucks anyway. For the recoveries, some Marshalls would have been really proud seeing us exercising double snatch strap recoveries with a piece of wood in between. , Slope recoveries, and recoveries after recoveries, ( Who will sign the logbook by the way ) The team spirit was quite even, the main thing was the fun and the driving and the sand and the wind and the wind and the wind. I was blown away by the whole event.
Thanks again to my team mates and to everybody putting in so much effort to make things happening.
All the best
Wolle
