The bad news started when Dutt informed me that the engine did not wake up on time and did not deliver the demanded power. And when he managed the engine waking up and delivering power it was too late to join.

The deflation was chosen by two team members so they could give us a refresher on sand driving. Well done and thank you for the lesson.

Another point was refreshed today: Always ensure you carry the required equipment with you. You may risk that missing equipment (relevant to the grade) may be the reason you cannot join the trip. Remember that equipment is not just to add weight to the car but are essential during desert driving. You may not use them for a while but…. sure the situation will come.

We started with the up and downs and across the dunes. But after a couple of crests I heard a “strange sound”. At a first glance there was nothing wrong. But Georg’s hawk eye spotted an insidious steel band under the car. Uuuuups, the closer look disclosed that the forward steel band holding the fuel tank was broken.

In a perfect teamwork we temporarily fixed the tank back to its position but sadly this was the end of our New Year “fun” in the desert.

Thank you all for the excellent teamwork and help. Hope you all could enjoy the planned afternoon trip. Thank you Yehia for accommodating the stranded members.

note: i joined another trip with JK fun club Dubai 9 jeeps 2 FJ into Sweihan dunes 2pm and came out around 9:30 pm bashing the dunes at night was really a beautiful experience.... we had a safe fun trip...
