Just a small clarification guys.

WM or any dealer worldwide will not be in a position to give warranty on the after market part you will replace no matter where you install it. However, if they have some performance parts (if any, e.g. Mopar air intake, catback) and you do the whole job with them, they are bound to cover it with their warranty as per their policy.

well ... I assume you have the 4spd auto

the only manufacturers with lower than 4.88 for JK(!!!) D30 are nitro gears ( 5.13 ) ... dunno if you want such a small pinion on such a small ring diameter

4.88 is perfect for the 42rle 4spd auto WITh 33" TIRES !
Was browsing on AEV's site (somehow a favorite hobby   ) and they have the Yukon 5.13 which they state is for the JK. Would that be an option?

heh, well, reading Khaiwi's post where he says he seldom uses Low, it seems that 5.13 is overkill? If you never use it, then why get it, right? Unless maybe there are advantages of driving in H instead of Low?

Alf mabrook!

What is your impression so far? And which inner sleeves did you get from AEV? I'm thinking of doing the same, so would be good to buy equipment that WM is comfortable with.

if you are only using Lo in the desert ... anything above stock 3.73 will do for big tires
but if you are using your Jeep as well in the city and on the highway in 4hi you should know the 4spd auto has 0.69 final ratio in D ... so choose your RIGHT gearing ... or it will be a slug ;)

UPDATE : yes for the JK front D30 meanwhile several manufacturers offer deeper gears, Motive, Nitro and Yukon amongst them ... all are good ...

Thanks for the info. When you say 'slug', do you mean top speed only or also acceleration? I'm not your typical traffic light sprinter, but still, a little more power in daily commute would be welcome :D

Do you know the top speed for the 4sp auto JK with 4.88 versus 5.13?

Yes,i know this graph, however, it seems to be wrong. E.g., the 2011 JK autospeed has 32" wheels with 3.21 stock ratio, right? if above chart would be correct, it means that this car would be seriously underpowered? And even 5.13 only provides "acceptable use", hence if you want a decent drive, you would have to upgrade to 5.38 or 5.86 at least.

I'm not an expert, but somehow this chart doesn't seem to be correct?

BTW, the low gear is 2.72:1, how does this convert into the above table? Apologies for these beginner's questions, but i am quite new to this topic, so thank you all for your patience :D

No Problem at all ;) .
And Yes, the 2011 is seriously underpowered... Thats because of the Emissions law in the states. With automatic you Need to regear a lot.

However with 32'' and automatic i'd go to 4,88 with 35 to 5.13- to 5.38 perfomancewise .
