Geolander ATS 285/75/R16 - Possible on an FJ with no rub?

Post by Escape »

Calling all FJ drivers.

Simple quick question.

Has anybody managed to fit Yokohama Geolander ATS 285/75/R16 to an FJ with no rubbing issues?

Is a body chop required?

Cheers, Al

Had the same discussion today at arctic trucks... You cant avoid rubbing, cutting will be needed. You also need to concider the travel of your suspension

I'm using the same size but with Cooper AT3, I had to go for 1.25" wheel spacers and some minor body cutting and things are fine now.
In addition to travel length you also need to consider the wheel (rim) offset ratio

Geolander ATS 285/75/R16 - Possible on an FJ with no rub?

Thanks for this. I can tell you from my experience is that the 285/75/R16 tyres DO rub at full lock and mid to full compression. You will need a body mount chop to avoid this. However, the FJ Xtreme already has a small body mount chop and I am waiting until after I have upgraded my suspension to see whether I need to cut more. I can also say that the Geolander AT/S tyres a A LOT better than the BFG AT tyres I had earlier.
