H&R spacers for Prado 150 2012

Post by Stalliondz »

Hello,

I hope everybody's doing well in these hot humid days :)

I'm looking for some advise where I can find H&R tyre spacers for my Prado 150 2012 as I'm planing to lift it 2" and get the Coopers AT3 285/70r17

-Has anyone had the H&R or the Cooper 285/70r17 installed on their Prado or FJ?

- I heard that having spacers can cause vibrations at certain speeds?

- How many mm should I get ? Or any specific model number? (I don't want the tyres to be too much out nor the tyres to be rubbing/touching from the inside).

- Any place where I can get them here with a reasonable price? ( on Amazon or eBay they range between 140 USD > 180 USD For the full set. And I've asked in mussafah and I've been told that they cost around 1600 Dhs ! Big difference!, am I missing some thing ?)

Thanks all and hope to get your feedback.

H&R spacers for Prado 150 2012

Post by Zeebzog »

Hi. I have H&R spacers (30mm) and 285/70/R17 on my FJ (but not coopers AT3). I got my spacers from Ramy 4x4, and they were pricey. For the 285/70/R17 not to rub on an FJ you have to modify the front wheel arch. The wheels do show past the side of body work, but only just. Personally I don't have vibration due to the spacers at certain speeds.

Good luck!
Lee.

Hello, I have a set of 40mm spacers (not HR) that were on my pajero and I understand would fit toyota prado as well. They're made in Taiwan and i paid just under AED 1000 new.

I haven't put them on dubizzle yet but was planning to try and sell for AED 500 - you'd be welcome to test them on you car for a week or 2 and if any issues I'll take them back and return your money :)

They didn't cause any vibration on my car and were used regularly in the desert for a period of time with no problems.

I have spidertrax 30mm spacers on 2" lift for my Prado. It cost me around 1350. There is no vibration, looks and drives great.

I run on the stock tires. The 285/70r17 you wish to put on the Prado will definitely rub. May require some trimming the body mount or definitely will have to remove all those plastics in the wheel area.

Thanks alot for all the valuable feedbacks from all. I really appreciate it

I've done some research and I think I'm going to stick to "No spacers" at this point as I've read in alot of forums about the bearings affect of having them over off-road stress.

Zayed I would like to ask you, is your Prado lifted ? As I'm lifting mine 2" and I don't want the tyres to look small to the car after lifting it :)

Another question, does anyone know if the 275/70R17 will fit without rubbing? If they will fit I think I'll go for the Cooper A/T3 275/70R17

I think Marshal Tilki has the 285/70R17 and I wounder how they're fitted :| :)

what ever you get, dont buy the Sharjah ones

Spidertrax, H&R are OK
the most important thing for safety first then for vibration DON'T get it from Sharjah
their Alluminium is not tested for high pressure it tend to brake under high pressure
(I've seen a sample)
get the HubCentric Spacers (it have a 2-3mm lip in the center to allow the
wheel to sit in, same as the factory drum) or else all the weight of your truck
and all the added pressure will be directly on the bolts and nuts. you don't want
your wheel to overtake you on the highway, No ?

as for the coopers, they are good, size from my point of view is bit big, it will be good for show off
but it will suck much of your truck power and puts lots of pressure on the Diffs (remember you have a powerful engine)
, it will also rub a little, may be not on-road but most probably when you're dune bashing

good luck

I guess my final options are as below:

1- add spacers and get the coopers 275/70R17
2- No spacers and get the coopers 265/70R17 as Zayed advised

-Pros of spacers:
It will bring down (a little) the center of gravity (specially with a 2.5" lift therefor lowering risks of rollovers in the desert, + car will look cooler.
-Cons of spacers:
Bearings and joints stress, high cost (in Uae market)

H&R spacers for Prado 150 2012

Post by scotchyl »

Here is a little comment from a jeep but principle is the same. I have rubicon 2dr with Dana 44 front axle. I have 1.25 wheel spacers after fitting 2.5 lift which now has centre of gravity in a similar position to before. I went from 245 stocks to 265 geolander ats. Does it look mean, not really, has it cost extra repair money, nope, does it work well on and off road yes. No loss of power or stability. My recommendation is if you get a chance see what someone like Tilki has done and also do something similar. Re spacers, if you do lift 2.5, when you do advanced driving you will soon know if you increase chance of rollover as car wil tell you. Mine did and I had to add the spacers. I was side cresting and car was practically going around on 2 wheels.

Thank you scotchyl for your feedback.
I actually had a look at Zayed's setup and I believe that's the one I want for now, lifted with relatively bigger tyres( 265/70r17 instead of the 285/70r17 as I was planning, otherwise I'll have to change the whole bumper which I don't want to do at this stage) For the spacers I will add them at a later stage when needed.

Thanks to Zayed89 for sharing and meeting me to discuss his setup and to all for all the support and feedback.

See you all in the sand :)

Dear Ray,
Thanks for the offer, but now that I know exactly what I want to do at this stage, the 40mm are abit too much for my setup and it would make the wheels too much out. I'll be looking for 15-25mm at Max.

Thanks again.
