Re: Introduce yourself here, Please. Lets get know each other
Dear All,
Just now I realised the opportunity to introduce myself here and I apologise for being late in this. Being late is what you should not expect from a German national. May be I am living now for too long away from home. Having had a lot of fun in my previous posting with ice driving on frozen lakes on Audi Quattro equipped with spike tires I am now happily enjoying living in Abu Dhabi with my family. Desert fun with THE Club makes it even more enjoyable for sand addicts like me. Actually I was infected already in the Sahara desert some years ago. That is why I could not resist to purchase here a Jeep Sahara for my beloved wife - and steal it for the weekends.
Oilmen will easily derive my profession from my avatar "Topdrive". For non-oilers: A topdrive is a device on a drilling rig that provides torque to the drill string. In the beginning I was struggling to get enough torque to the wheels when climbing the dunes. But nice people in orange shirts told me how to pull the plug (fuse), that a kill switch is not necessarily made for criminals, any many things more.
I enjoy every minute in the dunes and would like to take the opportunity the thank all marshals of AD4x4 and all supporters of the trips for this unique opportunity.
Best regards, Martin

Hello everyone.
Joined a little while ago and been doing a lot of reading but no posting.
Moving out from uk to Abu dabs on Friday.
Never been off roaring before but love anything with an engine. My experience to date has been fast road driving and track days. Seeing as there's not a lot of desert in the uk I'm thinking of getting a Jeep for day to day driving and then some weekend fun out on the dunes.
Going to book myself on an experience day to check this kind of thing is my cup of tea and then hopefully get a Jeep and become a very active member of this community!

Am sure that you can be a passenger on a trip - I have a seat going for the afternoon trip this Friday but I am thinking that may not work for you? Welcome to the Club and to Abu Dhabi.Chappers wrote:Hello everyone.

Always welcome to passenger. Although many will convince you to buy something else than a jeep, but that is a never ending discussion. Good luck settling in and hope to see you in the sand.

Re: Introduce yourself here, Please. Lets get know each other
Thank you guys,
Tillybean That's very kind. I saw that there was a trip Friday which sounds perfect. Unfortunately I don't land till 8pm... Same to you scotchyl be great to experience the desert before buying.
As for the last two points shahid & scotchyl :p
I'm open to suggestions? Looking to budget about 50k aed on a second hand off roader that's already modified to a reasonable spec but still needs to be sensible enough to use as a daily.
I had seen this which I like the look of http://tnydu.biz/DOrT9v
But as a complete newbie it would be great if you guys can help alighn my expectations to something that resembles reality
