Abu Dhabi Off-road club AD4x4 celebrated its 10th year anniversary last Friday in a desert camp near Al Khatim area - Al Ain city. The event was scheduled after the usual club weekend trips were hundreds of our members showed up afterwards to the event with their families and friends.
There were in total 7 trips on the day, two Newbie trips, two Intermediate trips and two road convoys. All trips were in the vicinity of the camp and everyone arrived on time to the party at 4:30 PM as planned. A team of Marshals escorted the road convoy safely to the camp and as expected from a big family such as AD4x4 not only the marshals were there but much more who on the spot volunteered to help. What a great collaborative spirit. Too many to list them but they will know who they are.
By 5 pm almost all the guests were in the camp trying to relax as the heat started reducing and people could finally move around in a pleasant atmosphere.
As promised there were the bouncing castles, dune surfing, camel riding, henna and sweets and plenty of other activities. A lot of kids and a challenging task for all to ensure they are all safe in whatever activity they undertook.
The cake arrived slightly earlier than planned so here we were the organizing team hoping that the hot weather will not melt it down. Fortunately, this did not happen. Thanks to Tony the cake arrived in one piece from the road to the camp.
Everyone started familiarizing themselves with the camp and a lot of chit chat and happy faces were to be seen. Children were shouting and running all over the place. Some also volunteered to dance on the stage.
10 minutes before 7pm, the cake was brought to the middle of the stage. Pictures were taken with the Marshals and organizing team members. Iguana with the help of few others managed to cut the cake. Thankfully no one was hurt although some tried to take their revenge on some others.
Later on, the buffet was opened and suddenly the center stage was empty! Comments from guests were all positive on the quality and quantity of the food. This was really appreciated.
At some point towards the end of dinner a Tanura show followed by a belly dancer entertained everyone and all the team was ready by 9 pm to help guests return to the road and go back home safely. Mission accomplished. We hope all of the participants had fun and looking forward for next year’s celebration.
