a friend of mine had a major problem when the ECU ( electrical control unit ) as we call it the computer, got damaged and he paid 8000 dh to replace it , the agency told him that it was because of the water and it might take some time to take effectrazer wrote:Interesting points, but I've been doing this since the day I got the FJ, and the car wash people told me nothing.
They do blow out the sand from the engine bay area using an air hose, but they also blow water into the engine area after that.
Haven't had a problem so far.

this is a hard choice to make, i used to clean the engine in my cars over home myself and was always told to keep engine running even after finished using water, but now a days technology has come so far, and as jc said we have had no problems, and maybe just using air could be the answer.
thoughts are with you on this one
if you have had a bad experience b4 then stick to what u know and feel comfy with

I agree, i have done 50000 km on the clock, washed the engine once...megamoe wrote:i agree with desert ghost, new engines tend to be more sensetive to water with all the computer and electronics inside it, air would be the best solution, for old cars say 2000 and below its okay
