@XOF,
You make a very good point: where can you buy stuff? We must ask ourselves this every weekend.
So I think a dedicated page should be created. Something like what DubaiPetrolHeads has:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 22988&z=13
I have already started collecting various AD car part shops and placed it in GE...I will send you the KML from home.

Re: Frankenstein: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
My "desert ready" Frankenstein has surprised me again whilst out on marshal Frank's fantastic trip
http://www.ad4x4.com/club/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12126.
But I was not half as surprised as poor old Frank when my snatch rope passed by his driver side window complete with a shackle and Frankenstein's towing point. Sorry Frank.
.
Two feet and it could have been the trip's second accident.
Here is where it came from...
I am going to visit Western Motors on Tuesday and ask them to put some proper recovery points on.

Re: Frankenstein: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
KerMitt (Amin) very kindly let me have a look at a few XJs in the workshop to see where the towing point should be located. It transpired that the XJ has a chassis mounted bracket to which the towing lug is bolted (Franki had it bolted directly to a thin bit of chassis lip).
So I went to the scrappy and unbolted myself a bracket. Here it is:
I took me about three hours to fit. Here it is:
So hopefully, that is my front recovery point sorted!
This week I also:
- stripped down the tailgate and replaced the rear windscreen motor and fixed the tailgate central locking.
- stripped down the driver side rear door and got the electric window working.

PS Bumped into SSS and a had good chat about Franki and also his project.

Hi Lateif,
I don't mind that kind of 'bumping into'
I do hope your wrangler gets well soon and that you both join us for another trip!

Re: Frankenstein: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I am working on giving Frankie a little more protection in the electrical department. A cut-off switch will make working on the electrics easier and will allow fast battery disconnect in case of electrical fire. The radio will loose it channels (who cares about that)?
Will update once installed.

Its more like a race car now
Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.

Don't rush out and buy one yet - let me check that it is up to the job first (stater motor current).
