An awesome day it was! We all met almost in time at the ADNOC in Al Khatim ( a few guys thought it was the one in Al Faya). A few minutes only behind schedule we all moved in convoy to the deflation point. After an ANIT debrief session (sorry if I talk to much!) we deflated the tires then headed for the dunes. Nice easy drive under a hot sun, around 1530 the sky became cloudy and we enjoyed a nice cool breeze for the rest of the day. All the group did so well that at some point XOF and I had to intentionally get stuck on a crest so we could demonstrate a crest recovery otherwise nobody would have seen the snatch straps in action. We then continued moving along the dunes until we take a break next to a nice descent so the kids can play with the sandboards. At 1730 we slowly make our way back to the catch road then go towards the usual BBQ spot. A few guys prefered to leave back to ABu DHabi, the rest of us went to the BBQ spot for a nice camp fire, shisha, steaks, and chat. Beautiful weather, great company. Most new members bought log books, so we have plenty time to fill them out and chat about how the day went and talk more about desert driving. Around 2030 most of us went back to main road to reinflate and head back to civilization.

It was a long day for me (10 hours driving in the sand), but i had a blast keeping an eye on the convoy, flying from crest to crest with Choueri following me (he booked a private lesson...).
After more than 5 years in the sand and 40 on earth, i can get enough of such a perfect day!
