WAGAN Intermediate

Post by CANTALOUBE »

A nice Intermediate trip to fun the drivers and see if they have the knowledge to pass Advance.

It is important that drivers read the details of the trips before signing up, we had the case of Steven who despite his 17 trips had only three intermediate trips, we had to explain to him that he could not come with us. It is a pity because he moved, but it would have penalized all the other drivers we were going to test.

In the end the team was composed of:

1 - Marshal John (Leader)
2 - Ameen ** Julius (second lead)
5 - Yacine **
6 - Lowell **
7 - Vaughan *** (Sweeper)

Marshals Michael and Thomas as supervisors

The Wagan area is very technical and was a great fun from the start. The first part of the course consisted of very compact medium dunes. The drivers did very well with a few second attempts.

Then we drove along the long fence of a forbidden zone to reach the last row of dunes along Al Qua'a road. The drivers had their first side ridge crossings; some of them real advance level ridges. They all crossed the ridges safely, sometimes a little too fast, but practice makes perfect.

In the end, Julius made an excellent second lead and has a good grasp of the skills needed to pass advance. Yacine and Lowell still need to make a few more intermediate trips to gain more confidence and they will be ready soon. Thanks Vaughan for the excellent sweep, soon ready for the next level as well.

I do not forget Marshals Michael and Thomas for the great work in the back and the valuable advice.
See You soon.

John

Thank you for a great drive John, all the drivers did well and I am sure will learn to handle cresting dunes such as these ones in the future. The area was great, just a shame about the fence as there seemed to be some nice ranges within that area.

Definitely an area I would like to explore more.

Thank you to John, Micheal and Thomas for the assistance with the puncture after the drive as well. Have now actually changed all tires to Yokohama.

A very well chosen track John. The different parts of the drive allowed the aspiring advance drivers a taste of what's to come at the next level.

Thanks

Really enjoyed the drive, it was a perfect Saturday afternoon drive with great terrain, great weather & the most important, great drivers.

Unfortunately time was limited so we can't reach the famous Pajero Bowl. It will become my personal target for one day I have to reach there..😁

Thanks to Marshal John, Michael & Thomas for the valuable talks, lessons & experiences. It always a pleasure to drive with you all.

Special thanks for Marshal John for arranging & leading such a great drive.

One of the best trips I had with AD4x4, with three great Marshals, three Intermediates, and a very helpful Advance Driver. Never had that much shifting & cresting before with the group and comfortably went all well. Unfortunately, got disturbed by my 4WD for not engaging. Thanks, Vaughn for noticing that I am running in 2W. I was using all the torque & traction of my rigs. My apologies as we have slowed down after my mishap. Especial thanks to Marshal John for a very nice track from the beginning until the end. This is my first in this area. Thanks, Marshal Thomas & Marshal Michael for constantly monitoring and assisting us to maneuver safely. Thank you Yacine, you did very well given the fact that that was your first time riding on top of the crest. Congrats Julius for making it into Advance, you were such a fluid driver. And thanks Vaughn for the assistance during my stack and sweeping us.

See you again in the sand...
