Despite a big list of registrants we had many no shows today, Im worried that many got lost with google maps giving the wrong directions. Next trip ill double check the meeting location from different phones and laptops to be sure seems a few people had the same problem.
We had a really nice team today with a good mix of experienced and ANIT drivers. After a lengthy safety briefing for the ANITS we split into 2 convoys, Osama taking most of the ANIT's.
With the fewbies we started with practicing some straight crests and recoveries, before making our way to the open dunes and enjoying some nice flow. We stopped on a very easy slide slope as some of the drivers were not following the safety instructions and I explained it again clearly to everyone and made sure that we all understood and had our radios on.
After that we took a few more rounds and some more open dunes. With some last technical practice we took the hard way back and crossed straight towards the sabkha finding a route through the large dunes.
At the end we were blessed by seeing a desert fox and managed to take some photos as it was just sitting watching us drive past.
Everyone has done really well.
Big thanks to Shaju and especially Ahmed who was always there at every straight crest to guide everyone over.
Bravo to Rafael and Rahul they have done an excellent job as 2nd lead and sweep.
