We met in time at the agreed location and after safety and trip briefing went into the dunes to warm up and get used to the terrain.
As everybody felt comfortable the pace was slightly increased and we meandered through the dunes towards the East. The terrain offered many side-cresting opportunities on small and midsize dunes. Everybody did very well with just a few second tries.
After 90 min into the drive we had a longer break, enjoying some freshly brewed tea and the tranquility of the nightly desert, just interrupted by a few dogs barking from a nearby farm and some aircraft following their mysterious tracks in the sky.
After the break we decided to go to Tilal Sweihan and finish the trip there. As there was still quite a distance to cover we increased the pace, at times slowed down a bit by technical areas or soft sand. We made it to Tilal at about 22:15 h with one stuck on a crest just meters away from the exit point.
Temperature was nice with a light breeze. Moon was three quarters full and waxing. Jupiter clearly visible guarding the moon. No wildlife spotted, just a few camel remains.
Apart from the stuck and a few second tries no issues. I have to thank Vaughn for a solid second lead and Rob for sweeping. Thanks Thomas and Jean for your valuable support and company. Razeem did very well especially when considering this was only his second advance trip.
Thanks all for joining and supporting and see you soon again in the sand.
