Bu Tais advance with Reji and Shanib

Post by Reji »

This trip was arranged for me and Shanib for leading practice. There were 8 registrations  but two were cancelled late night and early morning. All arrived on time at the meeting point, after the safety  briefing we started at 7.23 am. As for our mutual understanding .The first half convoy was led by me and the second half led by Shanib. The second half lead report shanib will write as a comment

Convoy order is as follows,
Reji - Lead
Shanib- second Lead
Raseem
Rob - Sweeper

Thomas Lehman - Marshal Support
John Cantaloube - Marshal Support

It was Raseem's first advance drive after 101. So we are more concerned about him and set the level according to his level. And moved to the lower Butais area since the area is known to me. After warm up practice we choose medium level crests. There were three stuck, that's for my contribution and a couple of second tries.  Around 9.30 the convoy was handed over to Shanib.
Raseem  did well. Thanks Shanib for your solid support as a second lead. Rob - you are the 'MAN OF THE DAY', Fully utilized your skills and Tools today. Many thanks Thomas for accepting our request .  Really appreciate both of you, John and Thomas' dedication, enthusiasm and passion, after full day drive then night drive again next day morning supporting us for lead trips.
See you soon

Second part of the trip.

Convoy:
1. Shaanib (Expert)
2. Reji (Expert)
3. Abdul Razeem (Advance)
4. Rob (Expert)

Support:
Marshal Thomas
Marshal Jhon

We continued the trip with medium dunes and did some side cresting while proceeding towards towards tree dunes as we planned to exit from there. Also did some high side sloping along with switching.
After around 40 mins to trip Reji hit a small ditch and had a minor bumper damage, slowly we recovered him from the ditch. Same time Marshal Thomas found out he had a puncture so we took a break to change the tyre. In the meantime Reji found out that he had issues with his power-steering as there was leakage in power steering oil.
So we planned to exit to the gatch road as Reji was finding it hard to turn the car. On the way back I had a puncture too, thanks to Rob for quick fixing the puncture and also support as sweeper.
Thanks to Razeem for joining the trip as he was the only advance driver in the trip. Thanks to Reji for continuously communicating during the trip. Thanks to marshals Thomas and Jhon for providing the opportunity to lead the trip and also for their guidance, support & patience. Expecting more trips with them.

Take care and see you all soon.
Regards,
Shaanib

Reji and Shaanib lived up to their responsibility as trip leaders, managing the convoy and finding a suitable track. Both did very well, particular considering all the technical obstacles that we met along the way. Keep it up guys.

Razeem also demonstrated impressive performance for his first advance trip.

John was always there when support or advice was needed

And without Rob's support we would still be in the desert...

Was a pleasure to be part of the team!

It was an amazing trip, i was the only advanced in the trip and it made me bit worried as i might lag the trip, but turned out to be fun. I learned a lot since it was my first official advance trip.

Thanks to Reji and Shanibs carefully leading the the tracks , for me to cope with the level and then accordingly increasing the pace .
i had many demonstration of side recovery , and fixing punctures. I was also properly informed of the terrain and the tracks that we would be taking.

Thanks to Thomas for arranging this trip .
Thanks for John and Rob for the awesome support .

we all worked as an awesome team

I hope i could join many such trips in the future...

Thanks everyone for the fun filled day.

It was a pleasure to join you all on this trip. Plenty of learning and great teamwork in dealing with the challenges we came across.

Well done Razeem on your first full advance drive.

Hope to meet up with all of you again on future trips.

Rob.
