Newbies Sunrise Convoy 2

Newbies Sunrise Convoy 2

A foggy morning on the way to the meeting point and all the drivers met at 0600. After deflating our tires and raised our flags Marshall Zak started the safety briefing dos and don’ts during the drive. And since there is Anit on the group he explained as well all the tools necessary for driving in the desert.

After the briefing the group divided into two. Our drivers are below.

Ian - Fj (Lead)
Ahmed - Xterra (second lead)
CIBY - Wrangler
Carlo - RAM
Francois - F150
Vipindas - Pajero
Jens - Wrangler (Sweeper)
Shajumon - Fj ( Floating support)

Marshall Ahmed started the lead for a couple of minutes until the fog goes then he handover me the lead.

We started for a warm up drive and look for a nice small and medium dune where the drivers can practice straight crestings. We have few stuck specially the long wheel based trucks. Thanks to Shaju for pulling them out.

After they finish the crests I went to them and explained how to properly approach the crest and guided them on the next crest ahead.
We’ve played a little more before going to the meeting point where we have breakfast with Marshall Zak’s convoy.

After the breakfast we continue to play around the area doing straight cresting here and there then suddenly I got ditched where my front bumper stuck on the sand and my left rear wheel hanging like 2 meters off the ground, thanks to a-track and diff lock which helps me to do self recovery easily 🤪.
We then continue playing driving towards the inflation point and as the heat goes up and the sand goes soft I choose an easy track to relax our engine and drivers. We reached our inflation point pass 10:00.

Thank you Ciby for the solid second lead, Jens for always keeping me updated what’s happening at the back, Shaju for all the recoveries you did, Marshall Ahmed for allowing me to lead this amazing convoy and for the guidance and tips.
Carlo,Francois and Vipindas you all did well. Keep driving more on the sand and you will all learn, enjoy and get familiarize with your vehicle capabilities.

I hope you all enjoy this trip. See you next time 😊

You can shake the desert sand from my shoes, but not from my soul

Thanks for guiding us smoothly through Al Faya, was a fun experience especially with the morning fog. Special thanks to Ahmed for all the tips, pointers and (seatbelt) reminders.
