Once again Sweihan - ADV

Once again Sweihan ADV

Emre (SandSailor): Lead
Marshal Serkan (Serkan): 2nd Lead
Gerhard (Dingo)
Chris (cmj1388)
Dan (Dan29)
Ilker (denizci)
Rick (RickSpeight)
Ozgur (Ozzy) Sweeper
Marshal Ahmed (JustAhmedo) Floating Support

We all met at the deflation point around 8am apart from Anvar who couldnt join. We were in total 9 cars including Marshal Ahmed, Marshal Serkan, Ozgur, Ilker, Rick, Chris, Dan and Gerhard. Deflated, had the briefing (we had Dan, Gerhard and Ilker, our newer drivers in ADV club so had the briefing in more detail than usual), channel set and convoy formed. Kindly asked Marshal Serkan to be my 2nd lead, Ozzy Sweeper, Marshal Ahmedo as floating support.

We started rather slow, but it became a complete standstill with 3 stucks within first 10 mins. Started with Gerhard, then I got stuck at the top of a crest while going back to see and then Ozgur next to me while coming for my help. Team recovered Gerhard, snatch recovery for Ozzy and I manage to self-recover. After this “welcome to Sweihan” greeting, we found our tempo and there were only two more stucks in the next 3.5hrs. We did as much switching, cresting, side sloping, descends and climbs as possible. Tried to set the pace right for the convoy so it was rather smooth sailing afterwards save for some 2nd tries. M.Ali dune was a bit of a fun as we had some 2nd tries but the entire convoy did pretty well overall. We continued the same tempo until the gatch, then decided to hit Nagrah for our coffee break and more fun at the big dune. Nagrah was a lot of fun with Ahmedo and Serkan also taking the convoy for a few good runs with different tries. Then came the treat from Ahmedo; freshly brewed coffee😍 with great chitchat where we enjoyed the company of each other despite the wind which started to pick up. Then headed for the exit after almost 4hrs of driving.

Buldozer tracks seem to be healing and although didnt create major problems, it made me jump in one occasion where I totally missed it as it was almost impossible to detect. Still need to be aware and take care if driving in the area. Luckily there were no other convoys and not many tracks so I can say we had a good run overall.

However, we had an incident during our stop at M.Ali as Dan’s JKU rolled freely and hit mine from the back while we were parking. Somehow it didnt switch to P and given the downhill parking position, it rolled freely after he left it. We were very lucky that no one got hurt. Only some damage to both cars. But it is a very good reminder to everyone that we have to use hand break all times and park next to each other if possible, especially in downhill spots. As my tailgate and tire carried got damaged, we moved the spare to Ricks truck for the rest of the trip for safety (thanks again Rick).

Thanks to all for joining and great company. All drivers did pretty good overall, especially the novice ones coped up well, despite some mistakes and high adrenaline occasions, which will only get better with more experience. Ozzy did superb as Sweeper and also as a driver coping with both Marshals during the private run. also Rick, with his Raptor and immaculate control of that raw power- (to an extent at times borderline showoff) also coping with both Marshals, as well as Chris who showed his experience in all occasions. Ilker included as he showed great control and his experience with his Gladiator, with very solid driving throughout.

All in all, some real good fun with great company and time well spent.

Eid Mubarak to all and see you again on sand soon…

Hi Emre,

thank you for organizing and leading this trip. This being my first ADV I felt some Adrenalin on the crests but I learned a lot from you guys. Looking forward to see you again in the sand.

Regards,
Gerhard

In my opinion, Emre conducted a very well-balanced advanced-level trip for Sweihan. The trip provided opportunities for the first times to learn some new skills, while giving other drivers an opportunity to hone their existing skills and have some fun.

As the official sweeper of the trip, I can say that the convoy did really well in general. There were a few second and third tries, which were executed skillfully at the end. Other than that, I had to perform only one pull, so it was definitely an easy day to be a sweeper. That said, there were two more stucks which included myself and Emre; and that was captured by Marshal Serkan and posted on social media before we could confiscate his camera and delete the images -haha!

When we reached the Nagrah dune, the convoy had an opportunity to practice some high dune climbing and switching. As the rest of the trip, this part was executed in a very controlled manner. Emre also gave an opportunity to me, Rick, and İlker to follow Marshalls Serkan and Ahmed for some higher-level climbing and switching action. During this part, the rest of the convoy remained in an orderly manner. All in all, it was a trip that provided everyone an opportunity to sharpen their skills and have some fun. The freshly brewed coffee by Marshal Ahmed was the icing on the cake!

Other than all this fun, we had one unlucky event as Emre mentioned in his report. Sometimes, despite our best intentions and efforts, things happen. Luckily nobody got hurt and the lesson was learned the easier way with only some damage on both cars. Like Emre says, this is a good reminder to all of us: we should try to park our cars in the most ideal position and always put it on P and also pull the handbrake, something very easy to forget in the desert.

I thank the organizers and participants for making this trip possible. It was a nice way to spend the second day of our Eid holiday. It was also a good opportunity to do one final advanced drive in Sweihan before the UAE summer really hits. I look forward to doing more of these trips next season.

:P :P :P
What a trip!! It was amazing, so much fun, the track started off nice and mellow and then became adrenaline central, the most side cresting I’ve done and very proud of my driving! However most of it was down to the car - so much power to play with, it’s a dream, and yes, definitely was some showing off ;) 8-)

Thank you very much to ahmedo, ozzy, serken and emre for there tuition, guidance and of course the play time! Great mentoring and a pleasure to follow and hang out with! Even though im new to advanced myself, the brand new advanced guys picked it up great! Very impressed with their driving skills! Special thanks to ozzy and ahmedo for the last 10 minutes playing and taking me up to the top of big Nagrah - mind blowing!!!

It was a great shame about the accident, but no MAJOR damage done I don’t think and thank god no one was hurt badly!

Will keep an eye out for the next advanced trip with you guys and will look forward to it!!!

Thanks again everyone :D :D :D

Thanks Emre for a beautiful day....A perfect briefing....We started mellow and then went into some medium high dunes...the wind created some learning experience at that stage...then was the learning of parking side to side...the lead took the best track and adjusted it based on the convoy capabilities and all did very well.... thanks to Marshall Serkhan and Ahmed for there support and guidance... Finally a very nice coffee near to Nagra from our Marshall Ahmed which made it a more sweeter drive..Thanks once again to all... and special thanks to Gerhard for helping me in deflating....see u all next time..

Thank you Emre for organizing this trip. First the briefing, it was well conducted for the first timers without missing any details and all understood what needs to be done on crests.
The track was well balanced and suitable for everyone. With your continuous communication and guidance throughout the trip to the new adv drivers, I’ve seen everyone progress and gaining confidence and climbing big dunes. Well done Emre.

Gerhald, Dan, Ilker and Rick, it was the first time driving advance with you guys and definitely not the last. Amazing progress and well done handling your trucks and making good decisions.

We had some fun with Serkan, Ozgur, Rick and Myself at nagrah and what a run! We should do it again.

As we were coming back from nagrah and joining the convoy, i gave Ozgur the lead for 20 minutes and wow! I was really impressed by the leading skills. Hats off!

Other than the unfortunate incident which we were lucky without any injuries, the trip was more than perfect a mix with fun and good vibes.

Thanks everyone including Chris and looking forward for the next one
Until next time.

I don’t know how I missed writing on this topic!

It was one of the wonderful day I have enjoyed. We all met at the meeting point and briefing was done by Emre, convoy order lined up and we started doing sand sailing. The track have been chosen by Emre was so good, I was on the second lead and Ozzy was sweeper. Ahmed was floating the convoy and waiting on the spots to capture us for beautiful camera footages.
We played in many of the dunes and finally reached to the Nagra. We got out if tiredness with Ahmed’s Delicious coffee and refreshments. Great facility Ahmed, thanks for that.
We did long chitchat during our break and enjoyed the time all together
Ahmed, Ozzy and Rick couldn’t stop themselves and did some extra climbes to Nagra. Rick’s new monster was gorgeous and was handling perfect! (Of course skills matter)
We always write each other on Social media with Denizci but this time had a chance to meet face to face. 😀
Gerard, Chris & Done, it was pleasure to see all of you, you did great and I’m sure we had some more experiences with this drive 👍🏻

After the drive Emre, Ozzy, Ahmed and me did a Sweihan Classic and went to the many restaurant
Unfortunately we did not have more choices on the menu but it was ok, I enjoyed (thanks Ozzy)

Emre thanks again for the great day! Looking forward for the next
