All drivers arrived at the meeting point well in time. After deflation and trip & safety briefing we headed off into the dunes North of the gatch road that leads to the Arabian Nights Village.
After warming up we increased the pace and fun a little. The drive was in part quite technical and soft sand added to the fun.
However, soft sand is part of desert driving and we practised how to deal with it. We had many stucks. Some of them could be managed through self-recovery. Others required snatch recovery. Overall there was a lot opportunity to watch and practice various recovery techniques.
The area was very beautiful, with almost no other tracks except ours.
John took over a part lead with his Jeep after the first 2 hours driving.
At 12:30 h we finished the trip as planned on the gatch road between Arabian Nights Village and Razeen road.
Thanks to Martin proving to be a solid second lead with his Jeep Liberty and Peter for professional sweeping. Special thanks to John for keeping his trusted eyes on us at all times.
See you all,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas, I love this area of Arabian night. It was a nice technical course where I think everyone had a good time. Thanks for giving me the lead, it was a great fun to find a suitable course. In the end everyone did well.

A great and challenging drive.
Embarrassing that I got stuck right at the end, I should have had more momentum.
Some good lessons learnt, my first time driving in such changing sands from firm to soft very quickly.
Probably about the limit of my ability at the moment, hopefully I will learn and practice more soon.
This area is by far the most beautiful i have driven, and no nasty bumps and jumps and dangerous drivers from other groups.
Thanks to Thomas and John for their guidance, and Peter for his advice and encouragement.

A great run with some interesting dunes. Soft sand made it a fun in a few occasions. Lots of opportunities to get the straps out.
Thanks again for the great day
