Newbie trip 12/02/2022 BU TAIS

Report of the Newbie trip to BU TAIS on February 12.
Everyone arrived on time except for one driver who did not bother to call and warn of his absence and who did not unsubscribe on the site. This shows that the number of trips registered on the site does not reflect the reality and that we can have a Newbie with 6 trips but only 2 realized.
Apart from that I took my time to check that all the Newbies had the safety equipment in their car. This is important and I think I will do it systematically in the future.
After a briefing on safety and driving rules we left for Bu Tais Trees. The convoy was composed of :
1- John **** lead
2- Shebeaun* Jeep JL (Second lead)
3- Vaughan* Jeep JL
4- Sunith* FJ
5- Mohammed N* FJ
6- Jean-luc* Pajero (second lead last part)
7- Nanda ** GX 460 (Sweeper)
And the Marshal Thomas***** as support of my trip
So we started slowly in the middle dunes and passed a few front ridges at a light pace. Most of the drivers were experienced and wanted to go intermediate. So we increased the pace and tested the drivers' ability to handle the power of their vehicle on big climbs.
We had a couple of second attempts and also five or six stucks in the ridge crossing. Some still need to get better at managing the engine power and understanding the ridge crossings so they don't stop when they shouldn't. This made the Sweeper work, which largely validated its know-how concerning the recovery.
We finished in style in a beautiful bowl after the break at the BU TAIS trees. I will remember the look of the drivers when they saw the bowl. In the end they all went down very well in it and went up the softest side. It was a good training for them.
Thanks to Shebeaun and Jean-luc for the good job of second lead and for giving me enough space to lead in all serenity.
Thank you Nanda for the excellent sweep, the regular reports and the work of sweeper to unstuck the cars.
Finally, nothing would be possible without the work of Marshal Thomas who was present on all the difficult points while I was waiting in the lead for the convoy to reform.
It was a real pleasure for me to make this trip with you. Looking forward to the next one.
