Sunday morning intermediate Khazna

Kannan and Dinto joined me well in time at the meeting point. As 2 drivers had pulled out we were just 3 cars. Which is the minimum for an AD4x4 trip. But also a magic number, the number of strength, beauty and wisdom, of harmony and understanding...

And so was the trip.

We started warming up and then practiced side-sloping on higher dunes in the Khazna area, which both drivers mastered very well. We did some straight crests as well and then turned our attention to the Al Faya area aka Mark’s retirement home...

We found our way through the fences an rested under some beautiful Ghaf trees. We made our way to the West through some technical areas. We met a camel herd with a lot of baby camels and saw some motor bikes in the sand.

We had to change frequency twice as we interfered with Raul's and Bishar's trip. Nice talking to you Raul...

When the landscape opened up I increased the pace and both fellow driver kept up with me.
We finished our trip 12.30 h after 41 km at the Al faya road radio tower. No stucks and just a few second tries,

The sand condition were nice, with a 3-4 inch dry sand layer and firm, wet sand underneath.

Thanks to my companions Kannan and Dinto who also served me well as second lead and sweeper respectively, hope you enjoyed it and see you again in the sand.

Another memorable drive. I was close to disappointment when the trip almost got cancelled but was thrilled to have experienced a short convoy trip. It was my first time taking the second lead. I got the opportunity to learn a lot on this drive and made some new friends too...

Thank you Dinto and Marshal Thomas
