Testing water - Advanced

Post by Daiana »

Dear members,

Here is the trip report of Friday's early morning Advanced level ride.
The trip was smooth and more about basic skills of cresting, switching, approach angle towards the crest and arrival to the base of the dune. In the first third of the trip during warm-up, we have identified what are the elements to be sharpened and we tackled it so well. The rest of the trip was huge progress in pace and performance of all drivers. I am honored to drive with you all and haer your feedbacks about the drive! I hope you all enjoyed it and will be joining me more in the future.
The convoy order was as follows:
Me as a first lead. Please leave your commentaries of what you did and didn't like :)
2nd lead - Tareq. You are an incredible driver with super control of the car, its' speed and then the convoy. And amazing friend with a beautiful copilot. Thanks to Rania for the photos and videos!
3rd - Emre. The jeeper, my buddy :) Very good progress and attention to instructions. You absorb all of the information as a sponge and perform on the drive immediately. Super cool driver.
4th - Dereck. It is not easy to manage a truck following the jeep. Long wheelbase and shifting pedals on the steering were actually working for your advantage. You gained a lot of confidence and managed to follow so well!
5th - Paul. Also truck buddy! You did a great track same as Dereck. You've turned your car disadvantages towards your own benefit. Oversteering was a bit against you still, you were able to manage your car on the track and most importantly it was done safely.
6th - Magdy. Hats off to you following Jeeps and V8s with your almost stock Pajero! You have improved hugely by end of the drive. Managed to find your own safe way to the convoy all the time. This is what makes an offroader a skilled driver. When you don't fight to break your car but manage it in your car style and capabilities. But please change to Jeep :) Your driving potential should not be limited to your car.

Kind regards,
Daiana

Daianna is simply an amazing driver and Marshall.

Being recently promoted to Advance level, this was my second advance trip. It was also 2 weeks ago since my last trip so I was alittle nervous and apprehensive at the beginning.

However, the trip was simply 10 out of 10. The professionalism, the patience, the difficulty progression. It was one of the best trips I have ever had! I learnt so much and feel my confidence and skills were vastly improved. I am starting to realise that there is alot more to being a Marshall than just being an excellent driver.

I'll be keeping an eye out for your future trips Marshall Daiana...count me in!! 👍🤘

It wasnt the first time I followed Daiana, but it was the first time I followed Marshal Daiana, to see it for myself 🤗

a new terrain to practice, learn and push more, also meet others so here we go; 4:30 wake up @ Dubai and 7am start @ Sweihan. wasnt the easiest, but it was worthed.

Practice and warm up was good which exposed what to focus on for the rest of the trip. also the feedback Daiana provided to drivers. speed and control on crests as well as approach angles were my bit to focus more on and I had a lot of opportunities to do so later on.

Watching the two truck beasts of Derek and Paul was a learning experience itself. handling and control. Magdy and his Pajero too. After the practice we increased pace, smooth but rapid flowing thru dunes and bowls -a few amazing patches- a lot of switches, cresting, side sloping, a few steep ascends and decends too. In short increased pace, increased fun, improved skills and self confidence.

The bulldozer tracks/ditches were a bit annoying at times, which got me almost stuck in an occasion, but Daiana’s trick “kill the kill switch” made it a self recovery.

Gotta mention Tareq’s great second lead, spot on warnings and course changes at times as required bcs of these ditches.

Overall time well spent, great track, thank you Daiana, defn a great learning and confidence building experience. Tareq, Derek, Paul and Magdy, very nice meeting and driving with you all, it was great pleasure and looking forward to drive more together.

See you all on sand soon

Thanks Daiana for a fantastic trip and learning experience.

The gradual increase in level throughout the morning was perfect, as was your guidance on how to tackle the different terrains. I definitely learned a lot and hope to keep on learning more...

Great bunch to drive with as well :-)

Looking forward to the next drive!
