Hi,
I have got a Montana 650T, and am wondering what map(s) you would recommend to load for off-road driving and within the UAE Cities.
Any recommendation?

Hi Jorg,
For off-road suggest you use Birdseye which you can subscribe to for about USD 30/year.
It will give you a view similar to Google Earth.

Afternoon, the only maps you can buy to use for on road here in the UAE is the Garmin CN Middle East and North Africa. The cost is about $89

When off roading, you should subscribe to the Birdseye which is similar to google earth but for Garmin. downloading these maps allows you visual guidance in the desert, locating tracks, farms, dangers etc.

For ME city and on road driving, I recommend the Garmin City Navigator® Middle East & Northern Africa NT

Depending on your morals, you can use a pirate version (I will send pm later - pls remind)

For off-road there is no commercial product. However I have produced a map for the Sweihan West area:

I saw this uae and Oman topo map for sale at adventure hq, can you offer any opinion as to its usefulness? Is this birdseye on a memory card? Or does it offer more or less functionality?

I don't know much about this map.

However, it looks similar to this:

Which is 2010 vintage and the company is no longer around (masarat-gps.com) ....

Maybe worth the 300 AED punt....

Done that. Thanks for the tip Allan; need to download a few BirdEye maps to cover the areas now... not very user-friendly these Garmin-Apps
