Recovery boards

Post by VGSears »

Having been on a few drives now I haven't really noticed anyone carrying any recovery boards, is there any reason why you don't feel they are helpful or is it because we are always with a decent number of cars that a rope recovery is just easier. I feel that with a wrangler sport and not having a diff lock the boards could be rather helpful for cross axle and some cresting situations.

Does any one carry/use there's a lot if they have?

In my 50 or so trips with the club I've never seen anyone use them. I can't say why that is though, curious to know myself.

They are used for recovering in situation when you cannot be pulled but as there are many cars in a trip and experience marshalls so someone can pull the guy whose stuck. thats why you dont see a lot of people using it. We had a situation where we were missing the recovery boards because when one of the marshal straight crested the dune and infront of him there were wire fence. So its good to have it but if your dont have no big deal.

In which case a wire cutter and a metal saw can prove useful…
