Where do I start :)

This was one of the best Liwa trips.

Everyone met at Arada gas station and after a quick briefing and securing Hani's Jeep bumper we left promptly. It took us about 30 minutes to reach to the deflation point. After all car tires were deflated we allocated convoy positions where Omar was my second lead and Rene was the sweep with Hani keeping an eye on us.

20 meters and we got our first small blow and voila we had couple of second attempts including me lol. Thats Liwa! Then we were greeted with our firs popout (thanks to Omar) and remember we secured the jeep bumper before starting the trip? Yes thats the one and it cam off too. You will see that bumper on my truck the whole time of day one :)

It took us about 2 hours to get used to the sand. We had our lunch break around 2pm (special thanks to Omar for arranging tasty food). After our lunch we started again and after passing through some massive slip faces we came across some big bowls. We couldn't resist but to play in those bowls. Hats off to our inter members and I have no idea how they were following the beast :)

We did about 80km on day 1 and at the end we had a second popout from Oliver along with a broken valve. Thanks to the support team which was took care of it promptly. As we couldn't reach to our planned campsite we decided to camp just 3km from the borders.

It was a beautiful evening and everyone gathered around the bonfire and started the BBQ. Thanks Omar again or the BBQ :D

Most of us were flat out at 10pm including me. Don't know about the rest when they slept :P

We got up around 7pm. I made some karak chai and thanks Omar again for the nice breakfast :D and after wrapping up we departed at 9am.

Morning warm-up was great! it was fast paced and later we started playing in the big dunes and bowls. After about 20km of driving my truck power steering started acting up. We took a short break and in the meantime I tried to fix the problem (it was the belt in the EPAS which had given away 10cm from 30cm. I had to cut it out and the car was supposedely fine) after driving for couple of meters I got into a V ditch and thats it! the steering rack was lost and the belt broke completely. I had to do a self recovery and got out of the ditch with a manual steering. It was obvious I couldn't lead anymore and luckily we had 4 marshals in the convoy. Hani took the lead and we all went towards the border fence in a easy track where we were able to drive on the tarmac all the way to Arada again.

Thanks everyone for joining the trip. Special thanks to Hani for a quick exit and Omar for all the food.

Until next time :)
