DXB-Practice and learn together

Post by Sai27 »

We were 10 friends with one no show.. After a quick briefing we started to roll at 15.00.. As per majority decision we planned to practice around BigRed.

Team set as
Rob-Second lead
Engin
Kabeer
Jijo
Pragi
Emre -Sweep
Mustafa,Bibin with Ramesh as passenger on the sides as support and myself lead.

Unfortunately Rob had a technical issue with his Jeep and left us in middle. Engin was in charge of second lead after.. All friends did a good run... after an hour of drive I decided to give lead to our Expert Mustafa to see and gain his experience on sand as lead. He did a perfect intermediate drive. I took over last 30minutes after a small break with our Newbie gang lead by Bulldozer and Sinan.. 6.30 we stopped at Badayar.. Couple of friends joined Barbecue gang at usual spot and the rest left back home...

*Highlights:-
1)- Mustafa- Your intermediate lead was excellent...
2)- Communications between second lead, support team and sweep was excellent.
3)- Good learning for recoveries..

Stay safe.. God bless..

It was a very exciting and at times challenging drive. I am happy in particular that I have got the chance to experience cresting. First couple of attempts were terrifying as I am not used to doing it but with the guidance of Sai and Mustafa, I started understanding the physics behind cresting. Surely it would take a lot more practice to master it and I am looking forward to it.

I also learned at this drive the need to have continuous communication between the second lead and the sweeper for the safety of the convoy.

I am also happy that I almost climbed to the top of the Big Red. My car’s performance was well especially when I switched the AC off and did the gentle left-right maneuvering during the climbs, thanks to Sai for the tip.

Sorry to see Rob had to leave due to power issues with his Wrangler.

Emre was great as a sweeper.

Sai was educating and resourceful as usual.
I also enjoyed being the second lead behind Mustafa.

Thanks to the Marshalls and all friends at the convoy for a very fun drive today.

Thanks once again Sai, Mustafa, Bibin and Ramesh as well as the entire team for another exciting ride.

Other side of Badayer was for sure different, bigger dunes and a constant tempo. Practiced a lot of ‘what goes up must come down’ 🤗 and ofcourse cresting 😎. Practice makes perfect, looking for more!

A couple of tricky recovery/repair bits. Very important skills and watching Mustafa on the job is great learning. Clearly getting the taste and joy of new level.

Sorry to Rob leave early but glad all good. I also had a support broken but stitched up and made it to the end (special thanks to Mustafa, Bu Ali and Engin). Officially Sweeping for the first time and thanks for the opportunity. Communication communication communication, it makes everything easier and smoother. A great surprise to bump into the other convoy and see friends and family 😁 on the way.
Looking to see you all on the sand again!
