The drive turned out to be a Long wheel base show of strength in Bu tais. Led by the relatively smaller sized FJ and supported by the even smaller dimensioned Pajero , we took it upon ourselves to test the stretch of sand immediately to the right of the Bu tais Gate.

This stretch has abundant small and medium sized dunes spread over a large open area offering all the elements for a skilled newbie trip.

Everyone reached mostly on time and after a briefing and convoy setting, we started the trip by 14:40. Early on, minor mechanical troubles with a vehicle made us return to the starting point to drop the car and re start.

The track included a fair share of cresting on smaller dunes, ascent and descent through small dunes and navigation through some technical terrain.

There were some second tries and assisted recoveries including double pull of one of the trucks, however, these were expected and managed .

The drivers did very well through this short course of 18 km. It was impressive to the see the 7 seaters and trucks flow through the sand and beat the challenges.

Towards the end of the trip, another vehicle developed a steering related issue. Luckily, this happened close to the exit point and the vehicle could be safely driven to the exit point to be later towed away to the garage.

Thanks again to Marshal Emdoc(Micheal) for being the constant guide through the drive supporting/educating the drivers on desert driving skills.

All the drivers exited safely around sun set for a brief gathering, refreshments and the convoy got to the road by about 19:00.

A fun afternoon. Thanks Ajesh for a nice track through a different part of Bu tais. Everyone in their long wheelbased trucks tried hard and did well, and seemed to enjoy themselves taking the new terrain with it's stucks, second tries and mechanical issues with good humour and a willingness to learn attitude.

The comfort & support given by the entire team especially Ajesh makes the thrill turns out to be fun. Looking towards such drives in the future.
