Any Off-road garage in Abu Dhabi for mods?

Post by kprocks »

Hi All,

I have taken one trip with AD4x4 and I have a 3.5L Pajero LWB 2015 - back bumper is currently bending outwards, thanks to "scooping"

I would like to get following mods done (Please recommend any additional mods I should consider, will be only doing minimal off-roading)

1.Skid plate for rear bumper (Do I also need one for front bumper?)
2.traction kill switch

Is there any garage in Abu Dhabi I can get these jobs done please?

You got it right, Skid plate for front & rear bumpers and a kill switch will be enough for now.

However, I don't know about workshops in Abu Dhabi since I don't live there.

I have the 3.5L LWB as well, 2014.
For now I have no mods, other than taking off the rear bumper to avoid breaking it.

I can't recommend a specific place, but I have asked around a bit and wanted to share:

ARB in musaffah will not do skid plate. They can do the front bumper, but I believe the price was around 7k AED including mounting - this is quite expensive. They do not have rear bumper for LWB pajero.

TJM in musaffah don't do this type of work.

I talked to a place in Dubai, can't remember exactly but I will share the prices I was quoted for reference:
- Custom skid plate (underside protection) 1300-1450 AED - does not protect radiator
- Full protection skid plate 2000 including mounting
- Suspension / lift around 3700 with mounting
- Front bumper:
  • 3000 for tubular
  • 3500 + 700 for mounting, commercial grade bumper
  • 4200 + 700 for mounting, deluxe including 2x fog lights
So all-in I would be spending around 10K AED to have these mods done. Not sure about the kill switch, but I'm thinking this would be fairly cheap. Figuring out which fuse to pull to disable it is on my todo list.

I don’t know where you went, or who you talked to, but in Dubai I have used Titan Performance for years, and have bought from Marshal Automotive as well. Titan is HUGE, and works on every make and model of truck. Marshal is smaller, but seems to do some really cool custom fab work. They should both be cheaper than Ramy 4x4, whom I have also bought from, because Ramy uses certified engineers - I would only use Ramy for more ambitious stuff, not general work.

What you need is pretty basic work, I would stick to a Titan or a Marshal type place.

Thank you Bisho! Visited Qaruoty today evening.

He quoted:

Front bumper slide plate 8mm Aluminium - 800AED
Front bumper slide plate 6mm Aluminium - 450 AED
Front bumper slide plate 4mm steel- 600 AED

He mentioned that the steel plate will be stronger than Aluminium - so now, I am kind of confused with the options I have

Any feedback will be highly appreciated :ugeek:

I had a chat with Titan Performance. They seems fine but the only issue will be leaving car in Dubai for 2 days as I am staying in Abu Dhabi.

speak with Seapal (Khaled) and they may be able to help out. the difference in the plates is alu is cheaper but lighter than the steel. I would make a post and ask what Pajero owners have done.

certainly skid plate is a must and i did hear of someone having one at the rear to protect the bumper.

6mm aluminum is pretty thin. I have 7mm from Rage Performance on my FJ, and it has been bent and had to be disassembled once or twice - mind you, they DO last, i have been using the same skid on advanced drives for years. Just have to be straightened every now and then. But I wouldn’t go thinner than 7mm to 8mm for tougher drives. For beginning and intermediate drives, 6mm would DO it - the speeds are slower, the impacts less.

Regarding kill switch, from what I've found so far you can accomplish the same by pulling the fuse marked ABS in the manual.

Not as nice a solution as a kill switch if you go offroading often, but I plan to try it out next trip.

Did you settle on a place?

Talked to another pajero owner on the liwa newbie trip. Said he had front + rear skid plates done for 1800 total at radical ras al khor. That's dubai of course, but just for price reference.
