Oil Change ????
Hi,
I want to ask about oil changing intervals for Jeep YJ.
1. Every how many KM's shall I change the oil ?
2. Shall I change the filter with every oil change or when ?
3. which oil is the best one for Jeep specially with our hot weather and off road driving ??
Yes I know that I'm asking too much but I'm sure that we have among us some of experts in mechanical issues and in Jeep specially 8)

i would say it depends on what oil u already got, usually when they say 10,000kms with out offroading -i go offroading every weekend- i change it every 7000kms or so. and i always use mobil synthetic oil. as for the filter, it really depends on how bad it is, ask the guy every time u change the oil if it needs to be changed.

for my Cherokee i do it like that:
1. I change the Oil every 5000 Km.
2. I change the Filter always together with the Oil. ( In the Filter alone is about 0.5 Litre of old Oil if you leave the filter and only change the oil ).
3. I use Adnoc Pearl ( the 4.0 Engine needs 5,7 Litres of Oil ). DO NOT OVERFILL, BECAUSE THIS CAN LEAD TO ENGINE DAMAGE.
4. I always use an original Mopar Filter.
Cheers
Uwe

I dont think i'll add anything new but here is what i know:
I use Mobil 1 full synthetic oil, this oil when for ordinary use (no offroading or racing) is fine for 10,000 km ... in my case i use my jeep for offroading mainly (% of the time is offroad) so i change oil every 5000km ... so it all depends on your use and driving style.
i'd say go for Mobil 1 and change the oil every 5000 km if the car is used for offraoding only, but if its an everyday car and you offroad during the weekends then change the oil every 7000 km (approx) as megamoe said ... and at the end it depends on your driving style ...
one more peice of info, you have to change the oil after 3 months regardless ... i mean if the car is just sitting you still have to change the oil after 3 months from the oil change even if it didnt move. my car during the summer doesnt usually move alot so it covers like 2000km in 3 months during the summer.. so i go along and change the oil. i hope you got the idea ...

5,000 kms.
always change oil filter.
switching from non-synthetic to synthetic oil can deprive certain seals of minerals that made them expand and can cause the seals to leak on older engines.
overfilling will murder your engine , you'll be churning the oil into a froth , eventually blowing your crankshaft seals due to the pressure and jst kill your engine.
20W50 oil out of the pipe at the station suits me fine since i change it every 5000 kms.
my engine's nothing fancy. if i had something nice i think i'd put in synthetic stuff too.

oil type ?
thanks for your replies. So, we can conclude that if you are using normal oil Visco you can change the oil+filter every 5000, if sysnthic Visco 5000 you can keep it up 10000 KM. Thus I will go this weekend to change to Visco normal oil and will change oil+filter.
I think changing oil+filter every time is the best since you will get rid of old oil completely and makes engine more cleaner 8) What do think ???

Oil Change?
What is this? Must be some very unnecessarry technical issue bound exclusively to Wranglers?

But do you not have to change the oil from time to time ?
Do not tell me that the LR engine is lubricated by some secret english fluid or something.
@jeeuae
Just go to any adnoc and let them do the job. It will cost you exactly 94 AED including the oil and filter. They will also make a sticker under your hood when you changed the oil and after how many kilometers you have to do it again.
