I was going to post this on Marhals Forum, but there again it would not be seen by the majority of club members..
Some weeks ago I posted my Birthday trip on 2nd May and Iguana very kindly suggested that instead of a BBQ that he would provide a full sheep, salad etc @50 dhs per head. This would involve Iguana organising the meal to be delivered to the desert by a non trip member. Many members signed up for the trip. Suddenly other Marshals announce trips for this date and people drop out of my trip to join others leaving me confused as to who is attending after Iguana has arranged the meal for a certain number of people.
I have received many SMS and PM,s dropping out as people are joining other trips. Have you any idea how much planning goes into trips on your behalf. For this trip I travelled to Khatim one afternoon, spotted out the deflation point/ meal point etc. I am seriously thinking that this will be my last trip as a Marshal, it has taken the shine off what I thought would be a great birthday.
I thought that we had sorted this out on the Marshal forum, but obviously not. If you sign up for a trip make sure that you commit to it, exceptions should be personal/job related not another trip which appeals to you.
Who stands the loss for the provided meal?? I will still enjoy my day with those of you are attending, but food for thought!!
Disappointed

No worries Mac. You cannot force members to attend a trip and you know the dark side of the club very well.
I agree with you on your disappointment. I had the same last week with XOF Family trip when only 5 of the 11 confirmed members show up on the meeting point. However, we still enjoyed our trip.

Sorry for your disappointment Mac, you cannot control Human Nature, when we are faced with too many choices decisions become hard to make.
I will be there along with my family to once again enjoy the company of friends we have made in the short time we have been in Abu Dhabi, for those who dropped out it is their loss not yours.
:bday: :bday: Mac

The same thing happened with Lucknow's Family day, this catered for x number of people and only Y participated thus he ended up out of pocket, I had provided the water and drinks (reduced cost from work) , i ended up with juice and water coming out of my ears, eventually throwing most of it away as there is only so much juice you can consume....
Definitly a tricky one, i remember catering for quiz nights in the uk, always a bit of a worry whether enough people will turn up to allow the costs to be absorbed.
I think lesson to be learnt- always have self catering, ie by car.
Hopefully you will have a great birthday trip and the no show'ers will be dissapointed in what they have missed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
