What car should I buy next? Has to be my day to day car too.
Look for advice. I currently have a 2010 Pajero and it's time to put her out to pasture.
What should I get next? My criteria are:
- Big and comfortable for day to day use as it will be our only car
- Must be OK for family of 4. Ideally 7 seats as we often have guests come to stay
- Good off-road and ideally can be lifted and customised a bit so it looks the part
I'm thinking either another Pajero 3.8. Or a Nissan Patrol Y62. Or perhaps a Patrol Super Safari.
Any others I should consider?

I wouldn't buy the Nissan y62.
Yes it's big , but so are the b
Fuel bills and service bills.
Also you need to modify it, remove all bumpers ect. If you want to off-road.
Super safari is fine I guess have not tried it.
Im leaning towards the Prado or fortuner
Great feul efficiency, good size, over all maintenance is average.

Thanks all. Good advice.
Yeah good point on the Y62 patrol. I love it as a road car but by the time Ive made it suitable for offroad it's a lot of extra money.
I'll take a look at some Prados. It's a car that never really got me excited in terms of looks. Is it easy to customise with a lift kit or offroad bumpers to give it a more aggressive stance?

Just found this site... who knew?!!! (apparently a few hundred - just not me)
Anyway, been driving a 2013 Fortuner 4L with a 2" suspension lift (OME). It's fine on the road (a little small for my 190.5cm/112kg frame), but it's perfect in the sand. Super light, nimble, great visibility. I can recover anything from a Jeep to a Raptor with ease. Broke the back tow hitch once snatching a Mitsubishi from a pit, and the rear parking sensors bark randomly for no reason now. Otherwise, zero problems. The downside is that the mod-market isn't great for this car.
And I'm here as I'm also considering a change. I wanted a Prado, but the wife hates the look (she doesn't want to change to the same look as the Fortuner). Seriously considering a F150 Lariat FX4 5.0. Tons of mods available, but it's a big monster to maneuver. Loved testing the Dodge Ram Laramie, but no diff locks until you get to the ugly Rebel.
I'd love a Patrol, but the price precludes my allowance to dump money into mods. Any other suggestions?

Have you checked out the New Jeep Wrangler JL ? Tons of mods available, looks cool, easy to maneuver & the Robicon comes with the diff Lock. Drive is more smoother thank the old JK.cynder wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 10:00 pmJust found this site... who knew?!!! (apparently a few hundred - just not me)

I fell in love with the Jeepers mods at the ADIHEX show this year. But when I sat in their showcase Jeeper, my head hit the rollbars and was 1cm from the roof panels. Those were Jeeper-modified seats, so maybe the stock ones are more adjustable & forgiving to tall people?Have you checked out the New Jeep Wrangler JL ? My wife would love me forever if I could fit in a Jeep. The Wrangler has been her dream car forever! I had scratched it from my list because of the lack of headroom. Maybe I'm wrong?

Ok, pickups are out due to seat numbers, y62 has power and seats but will cost you big time.
Jeep is option if it had potential of second row of seats but that is only just being designed aftermarket. Also lots of mods means lots of money and starting price is expensive for what it is. It’s cramped inside compared with others. I used to drive jeep but I am impartial on this as I now have a ford pickup.
Highly recommend a fortune new shape, even try get a TRD version or maybe a 4Runner. Yes it’s import but I know a few guys who swear by it.

You could go bigger and get a land cruiser. Throw on front and rear skid plate and you are good to go. If you want mods then bumpers etc are available, but not really needed if you get one of the more basic models. Plenty of suspension options as well. Also a big benefit over most Pickups is that you can turn off the side airbags so no surprises when side cresting.
