Hey everyone, I just recently got my hands on a 2017 JKU and have been planning on throwing on some bigger tires and possibly a lift but can't seem to get enough information on what would be the best choice for the dunes(most of the information out there is on rock crawling).
From the little that I've been able to find, apparently a lower center of gravity would be ideal, as going with something like a 3" lift would throw the jeep off balance and cause it to tip over like a cinder block.
I've had this experience with a lifted 2011 JK, going around a roundabout on 2 wheels isn't fun and I would like to avoid going that route as much as possible.

Ideally, I would like 35" tires, I've seen people run them on even a stock lift with not much rubbing, so maybe a 1.5" lift with 35" tires?

I'm also concerned about my stock air box drawing in too much sand, as I've seen a few complaints about it ruining engine components. I was thinking of going with an AFE cold air intake, but turns out that that'll draw even more sand than stock, so not sure what the ideal replacement for the stock air box would be.

Again, I'm a total newbie so any advice would be much appreciated. thank you!

My opinion is to go with teraflex 2.5” complete lift with control arms and flat fenders or Mopar high fenders which will clear the 35s with no rubbing.

As for the filter you can install airaid and add a snorkel to prevent ingress of sand. Well tested and tried.

Agreed with Aidi!

even a 2 inch would be enough ;) .......... and no issues on stability

Hi

I’m curious to learn what you have decided on?

And have you checked the impact on the warranty, seems that Jeep is quite peculiar on that.

I have a 2016 JKUR which is in need of a lift and I believe I will go for a 2” mopar not to have any warranty issues.

Not sure how that works with the CAI. If your concern is sand entering the engine you might want to consider a snorkel, as many have.

I went with an AIRAID CAI and AEV snorkel. There is an optional pre-filter which adds extra layer of protection from sand if you want to go that route.

When I was buying my Jeep from WM I explicitly asked about warranty issues after modifications but was assured all factory parts are covered. I have not had to exercise warranty repairs yet so the verdict is still out for me. Good luck!

2.5 inch and 33" tyres worked well for me on 2015 JKU but fitting adaptors (also referred to incorrectly as spacers) increased stability on the road and felt better in the sand (less tippy). Note that once deflated to sand pressures ride height is probably back to stock. I would have preferred to change the wheels to get the optimum backspacing rather than fit the adaptors but liked the original Rubicon wheels.
As for the snorkel mods - search the tech forum as plenty of advice. I fitted one and never regretted it or ever saw any more sand in my filter box.

I miss the sand!

Yes, I like it a lot.I went with the fox 2.0 reservoir shocks (Non adjustable). I chose a lift kit based on the fox shock which was a must for me. AEV is a good lift as well but it came with Bilstein shocks (also very good).

Mopar lift with lower end Fox shocks was more expensive than the Teraflex with Fox reservoir ones. The install was done at Off road zone Dubai - I did all my mods there so far as I like their quality of work.

Mopar Jeep kit is really expensive indeed. I believe you can buy a better kit for the same amount outside the dealer.

On my list of potential lift kits is the teraflex with the Falcon 3.1. (non-adjustable with reservoirs and with an option to upgrade to adjustable as well). But I'm still reviewing my options :).

Note the Mopar kit includes the longer front cardon shaft to ensure no issues with exhaust contact and kinder angles on the UJs.
