Hello all,
I came across an interesting used Wrangler that is priced well. It has 200k kms on the clock. What is the generally accepted lifetime of the TJ's 4.0L engine mated to a manual transmission?
I have seen a few online reviews/articles that talk very highly of the engine, and estimate a life of around 250k miles (so approx 400k kms). Is this fair or would you say that usage in the Gulf would cause more long-term wear & tear?
Look forward to your expert opinion
Thanks!

Make your judgement on the number of owners and current owner. Biggest factor here is the type of driving and maintenance the engine has received not the mileage. 200 k is fine with good servicing. Tj s are not the most refined but they are strong and light and with the right trusted garage can be a very cost effective way to explore the sand.

Stay away from it unless you consider yourself as an extremely lucky person...
