He deals in repairs and salvage/used parts for jeeps, saved me a lot of money when I had a WJ and the service was ok..

You should be able to get a complete, running junkyard engine for as little as 1000 AED.
1992 Jeep Cherokee - 4.6L Stroker - 5MT
200rwhp 258rwtq (246hp 311lbft at crank)

Thank you all for the tips.
It turned out that you really can't kill the jeep!!
Surprisingly, those straight six are much tougher than I thought and good news, won't need new engine - not even a gasket!!!- just a water pump and set of coils
Also should always pay attention to mechanic's diagnoses. Majority immediately conclude " oh man, it's gone, better replace the engine and will cost $$$$$ ' and then there is this one guy who says " ah, straight six, it has the cooper sh***, good engine and probably still fine, don't worry"

Yup. It's definitely a tough old mofo. Indeed the whole Jeep is a tough old mofo and mine's still going strong after 413k km.BAHA wrote:It turned out that you really can't kill the jeep!!

He he. Most of the mechanics I've come across over here are absolutely hopeless at diagnosing problems. They just throw parts at the problem and hope they get lucky. Fortunately I have enough mechanical knowledge to make my own diagnoses which saves me a lot of cash and a lot of grief too.BAHA wrote:Also should always pay attention to mechanic's diagnoses.
