Sunshade for montanna
My Montana got almost to hot to touch whilst out on a trip yesterday. It can't be good for the electronics, which will inevitably fail in a shorter time (reduced lifetime).
So in true Blue Peter style, I have made it a sun hat out of an ice cream carton....
It attaches with Velcro.
I will report back on its performance.

Awesome.
Blue Peter badge and a signed photo of Val Singleton is on it's way!
What an ingenious idea and looking forward to the report, as I know my Montana had heat issues last year and kept switching off.

Sunshade for montanna
Yes, the Montana will get too hot in the sun, I think the battery runs hot anyways, but with the burning sun on the black back.. It gets too hot & the device switches off for protection.. Did it twice in the same trip a few months ago...
The excessive heat is also not good for Li-ion batteries...
Was thinking to do something similar

You mean to hang it with roof instead of fixing on wind screan.

You will need the marine type base for that (cheap one)

Or you could buy a tub of ice cream, eat the ice cream and make a sun shade.

Folks,
I volunteer to support you in eating the icecream for the benefit of my friends having a Montana (i.e. you pay & I eat)
