Frankenstein: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Hi All,
This thread will be about my life with Frankenstein http://www.ad4x4.com/club/viewtopic.php ... 29&start=0
In the latter thread, I noted the atrocious wiring.
Here is a picture of the wire feeding the radiator fan. TINY
I burnt my fingers on it yesterday. Now I know why two fire extinguishers have been fitted!!!
Today I ripped out:
- The spotlight wiring (feed wire trapped under battery tray and shorted out)
- The power amp wiring.
- The electric fan wiring (and put back to stock).
I intend to wire up the two electric fans to work as stock (on when a/c on or temp reaches trip temp), but with an override for on all the time.
I also removed the spotlights today as they were impeding radiator air flow.

PS Frankie at lasts weeks ANIT:

Re: Frankenstein: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
IF your engine is toast ... don't cry (it has been just slightly overbored by the sand injection )
But you would see that in the exhaust gases as well ...
Tobias has put some nice components in there worth $$$ !
The head with injectors, roller rockers, valves and springs, lifters, pushrods, camshaft, pistons, piston rods, crank shaft are all still cooool!
All you MIGHT need is new piston rings, crank bearings, camshaft bearings, new head gasket (043?) and a block bored 0.60 over (Tobi used forged Keith Black 944-60 !)
And if the block or head were milled/decked ... Hisham knows best and can reconstruct that.
(just let Hisham mark the lifters and rods clearly so they go into the same holes on a new block)
And by coincidence there is somewhere the old engine ... not bored yet
You cannot bore more than the 060 ... the cylinder walls will become too thin ...
Glad you got rid of that NOS thinggy ... (oh yeah ... you might want a bored throttle body as well WITHOUT NOS NOZZLE HOLE )
Oh and btw : if your 4.7 stroker does not feel powerful enough (if the compression is OK) ... there are some fixes for that ... check jeepstrokers.com ... first thing I would check if your PCM is not running in safe mode because Tobi just let the O2 sensors hang loose outside the exhaust manifold because he did not have the bungs welded in and no minicats ... no CEL does not mean everything cool ... the engine might run super rich and lose power ... (check the spark plugs ... if BLACK too rich! they should be brown ... and check the headers for cracks as well ... if cracked the pcm enriches the mix as well)
For a proper mix the pre cat O2's are mandatory ... the post cat O2's can be tricked with so called "spark plug non foulers" but they need the heat (must be screwed in as well)!

Are you planning to keep the current intake and suspension systems ??

@ossme
My aim was to buy a sorted desert car 'ready to go', not a project car! So yes, having just fixed the intake system, I was going to leave it alone. Is there a reason I should change it, and if so, what to?
Suspension system: I am in a bit of a muddle. The car failed the test so Hashim at 7P returned it to stock: standard front springs/shocks and the skyjacker leafs (Tobais's extra long shackles removed) and standard shacks.
So now it is about +1.5 at the rear and +0 at the front and looks a bit like one of those funny cars!
I asked Hasim what do do and he suggested cutting the +3 Skyjacker coils and installing to make car level (and put skyjacker shocks back on).
However, they are tapered (flat end) and internet research suggests heating they coils to make end flat is a big No No.
So I intend to ask him to reinstall from suspension as was (less spacers) and make back level with spacers.
Anyone got any better ideas (that does not involve mega bucks )

keep the rear 1.5" lift in the rear ... put 0.75"-1" spacer on the coils in the front, they cost around AED 170 and 1 hour work. Et voila, done !DesertDawg wrote:@ossme

Re: Frankenstein: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
yes yes, just spacers, with standard coils... but you might be able to install also the shocks absorber then...
modify coils is a big no.
spacers might be available with ARB.
i doubt there has been sand going in the engine, we were very slow, and not enough bashing. This happen a long time ago to antrax, who discovered his filter was actually pierced... His JK was perfectly fine, despite having major sand in the engine. How to know? you can do a oil change, and check if sand is coming with the oil. Hani had to do it 3 time before getting the engine clean. And the JK is still doing great.
nonetheless, if it is now properly fixed, you should keep it, as this is the best way to have real cold air intake, without dust...
very sorry David about all that...

@ Xof: Not your fault - you were just the kind person who agreed to sell it on behalf of Frankenstein's creator.

5” Lift kit 3,5 Lift Skyjacker and 1,5 Body lift Teraflex
Are these the spacers I need (1,5 Body lift Teraflex)? Perhaps Hisham has them from when he converted suspension to stock.

@MalteJK
I do hope so. Once Frankie's suspension is fixed, I am going out to have some fun!
Just a few more electric tidy ups to do.
@Xof: Thanks for the tip on the jeep scrapper - picked up some useful bits and pieces yesterday.

i have seen them before, but they were not in the trunk, when we collected the Franki back... so, either they are still with Hisham, or they were thrown away...DesertDawg wrote:The advert said:
