Speed limit AUH to DXB Reduced to 140kph
Just announced on radio 2 that speed limits on the Abu Dhabi to Dubai motorway are to be changed to 140kph.
The radars are to be set to flash at 141kph, so be careful with your speed, it is a direct result from the awful crash on Saturday morning apparantly.

Yes, I is a one of the excellent ways to implement tough discipline. Safe distance to a car you are behind with should at least 1 vehicle length (your car, say 4m long) for every 5km/hour of your speed. So 130km/hr / 5 = 26 x 4 mts = 104 meters away (to be more safe add some more). Any idea or formula for this.

Your formula is on the safe side on dry road. And assuming the driver in front of you is alert and will not fullyPEPSI wrote:Yes, I is a one of the excellent ways to implement tough discipline. crash into an obstacle.
In Germany the law requires a distance of half the reading of your speedometer.
So at 130 km/h the required minimum distance is 65 m. When the road is wet or icy or dirty/slippery, distance
has to be increased.
However, consider this:
When braking, you have a reaction time (from seeing the danger until your foot hits the brake pedal). During this
time, you travel a distance at full speed, which can be taken as speedometer reading /10 x 3, i.e. at 130 km/h
you travel 13 x 3 = 39 m, before you even start slowing down.
Thereafter you need another distance to come to full halt: speedometer reading divided by 10, and then squared,
i.e. 130/10 = 13, squared 13x13 = 169 m. That's for dry asphalt road. On wet road or concrete road, multiply
again with 1.5 or 2.
The total travel from seeing the danger until you stopped is 39 m + 169 m = 208 m on dry asphalt road ! And
39 m + 338 m = 377 m under unfavourable road conditions !
This is the distance you need if the driver in front of you is sleeping and crashing into something without
braking.

Re: Speed limit AUH to DXB Reduced to 140kph
i believe as safety both are extremely too much because you can not keep safety distance, so its matter of time only and 20KM/H will not make any dif. for speeds above 120km/h.
anyway Thx MAC for the info
