DesertDawg's Desert Maps

I have spent an inordinate amount of time creating desert maps which show fence lines / NoGo areas/ Gatchs /Tracks.

The first one is SweihanWest and covers this area:

Here are some screen shots:
430.jpg
607.jpg
Green Lines = Gatch /Tracks
Red Lines = Barriers (fence/pipe/wall)
Blue Areas = NoGo (farms/residential)
Blue Line = Tarmac

Here is the latest map.

Hope you like it.

Dave, This is great! Anybody who's driven in this area will know how easy it is to get stuck between farms, fences, etc. I will be loading this tonight ready for tomorrow's trip.

Thanks!

This is fantastic.

So is it possible to go through the steps with base camp but upload it into my Garmin eTrex 30 instead? I know it does an over lay of an image but didn't see any image files in your folder.

Thanks.

Well after this weekend's trip, I have only started using this map and must say it is a job extremely well done. The roads, berms, farms/no-go areas, etc are pretty accurate from what I could see and it is actually much easier to plan a route from A to B in this area, even with Birdseye maps loaded. We encountered one small farm hidden behind a dune, but when we consulted the map, it was there clear to see highlighted in blue.
The only small thing I noticed after dark was the no-go areas flashing between dark and light blue as the map moved across the screen. I haven't experimented with zoom or refresh settings. It may be something simple, but it is not a hindrance.

Definitely keen to see more.....

Thank you Fox.

In the middle of a minor update to Sweihan West 2.0 (there was a gatch road I had missed).

I have just started Sweihan East.
