Montana Back Up

The Garmin Montana is highly configurable and I have customised mine with on-road/off-road/hiking profiles, all with great short cuts.

So I cried 'oh dear' when I accidentally reset my highly customised unit back to stock (NOT).

Solution? I now use JaVaWa Device Manager to regularly back up my unit (internal and memory card). I can now restore my unit back to the last back up any time.

One word of caution: the profile you are in when backing up/restoring is not backed up/restored. So have a dummy profile (I called mine backup) and be in that profile when backing up / restoring.

Thanks Dave,
You also need to back up your files on base camp especially if you are not having all your data on your GPS navigator
This can be done easily by the back up order from the software

ALSO being the key word. BaseCamp does not back up profiles/short cuts on the unit.

I use BaseCamp to backup all routes/tracks/way points. I use JaVaWa Device Manager to backup the Montana profiles/short cuts etc.
