wana get me a GPS (since car mounted is useless ) and cant relay much on salesman advice so please advice/

Garmin Montana 600 or 650, difference is camera only, choice according to preference.
This is from a guy who used the 276c, garmin nuvi, tomtom, and few iPhone offline and online navigation systems.

Agree with DH - Garmin Montana 600 for me which is fab. Easy to use.

A lot of people in the club use Garmin 276C but there are a few more Montana users coming through.

if you want hand set: garmin 62sc.

if you want fancy with google earth view touch screen etc... Garmin Montana...

if you want old stuff that you cannot destroy but have prooven track: Garmin 276c.


perso: have the 276c, and will not change, cause it would cost me too much to change my car setting (nothing is compatible). So i woulf have to re install the direct power supply, the new mount and the external GPS receiver.

great.. i think i ll go fancy with 600

Amit at the Mina in Abu Dhabi was selling them for around 1900 AED without maps but including case and mount. This was a month or so ago though.....

The mount is the same, just change the top bit, and there is no need for external GPS receiver, the new one can pick the signal even if you are inside your house.

the only change is the cable, and the size, if you prefer smaller packages

half true:
- the part on the dash board is the same. Not the one on the GPS obviously. but not the expensive bit
- GPS cannot work indoor. and the 276c works very well without the external antenna. But it starts faster with the outside one, and i don't like the small antenna on my dashboard.
- cable: probably easier to change on a TJ than any other car. Took me half an hour the first time.

anyway, not on my bucket list right now. I'm very happy with my 276c. When it does not work in one or two centuries, then i'll go for the montana.

btw. anyone knows which GPS support the gps-tracking ( together with the marshal radio ? )
I know for the 276C but then ... ?
i.e. i've a 62st ... and would like to know ... anyone ?

It all depends on interface. I think 62 has to work. If i dont mistake Jo has a similar handset GPS and works with Marshal radio.

Best is to talk to SEAMUT, he can atleast tell you more about connection, so you can check the details.


On topic. Had Garming Quest for some time. Got upgraded to 62s, + Birdeye subscription. Very happy with everything.
Price / performace - does the job.

The Montana does work indoor, if you are near to a window , joking aside, the reception on it is very strong that can pick weak signals with an oblique direction (if this is the right description)

Somebody have experience of using Polestar navigator offroad? Does it suitable?

Haven't use better than 276c.
