Hi,
I like it very much... But, if you instaled the turbo or the super charger kit :
Do you have to install Low Compretion Pistons as well ?
Do you gain more torque and horse power from the turbo or the super charger ?
Will it be functional? ( i mean when off roading for long time )
What about cooling system?
Further more , I think that if you go for a stroker kit you will gain same HP and torque as if you use 7PSI of boost from turbo or super charger.
I'm seriosly thinking of doing a magor performance upgrade in the summer. but , till know im in the studing process.

For our weather you will need the intercooler. The turbo/supercharger will give you alot of power, but will the car be able to handle the extra power ?
When i had the turbo fitted in my patrol, the gear was damaged after 1000km, the differential starting whining and the clutch became as consumable as the brake pads. It all depends on your driving style, especially when you take it off road everything will break faster.
I once saw a patrol with 850 HP, but the gear, drive shaft and the differential were changed, this is the right and expensive way of doing it.

As far as i know there are two types of tunning
one is for pure compitition purpose ( which i am not looking for as it will restrict my use of the car).
The other one is for the daily use ( abuse in my case) and this is what i want but i want the maximum of this type.
Till now I trust two work shops in UAE ( in terms of Quality and honesty )
the first one is bin sulayeem performance and the second one is bin dalmok. therefore , for sure their openion will be very usefull in decaiding what should be instaled and what to avoied
unfortunatly both are very expencive but, ill try my best to do the upgrades in one of these workshops.

I believe for the 4,0 Litre Engine the Stroker is the best solution. It is durable, and made out of common parts which are perfectly fit into the block. Nobody can see your plus on power, so it is street legal in some sort of way.
Here i found a very attractive stroker kit for about 9000,-DRH. It sounds expensive in the beginning but all internal parts of the engine are included ( including the crankshaft, all berings oilpump, pistons, camshaft, rods.

The low rev torque of a stroker built for the street is awesome.

Since most turbo/supercharger kits for the Jeep 4.0 produce a maximum of about 6psi of boost, it would be safe to keep the compression ratio not higher than about 9.2:1.
You could lower the compression ratio and use more boost, but off-boost response will be weaker.
I'd go 9.2:1 CR, 6psi boost, and a dual pattern cam with about 200 degrees intake valve opening duration @ 0.050" lift and a longer exhaust valve opening duration. Even the stock '87-'95 cam would do nicely.

Personally I would not touch the engine before it's too old and needs overhauling. Additionally, the power form the 4.0Ltr. engine with the intake and exhaust mods is sufficient for the type of drives we do. We are not into street races, dune challenges or anything from that sort..... Finally its a personal preference that I like to stay aside and watch.
