my car's lift

Post by surfer »

Could anyone tell me what is the golden part on the right side ? it seems that it gave the front part of the car a higher lift than the back side. You can disconnect it if you want to, it has a pin that you can pull out.

This is the quick disconnect. Normally used for mountains and rock crawling. Not recommended in the desert (as far as I know). However, most of the Jeepers have it in their cars. I have one, never used it and I think I will never use it too.

Qoute from the net:

"While sway bars do a great job of stabilizing your ride on pavement, they can severely limit the amount of wheel travel you have when off-roading and that's not good. The more your axle can articulate, the more all four of your tires will make contact with the ground and consequently, the more traction/stability you will have".

so this is what it do.

As said before its not advisable to remove them in the sand or tarmac for that matter, but you can get extended ones, depending on the height of your lift or the type of offroading you do. I know of some Jeep owners that prefer more travel in the desert. I personally like my vehicle as stable as possible.

Guys, i know that i should not remove the pins on desert. I think its longer than the stock one and its causing the front to be little bit higher than the back.

What lift kit have you got installed? How high did you go?

You don't need extended sway bar links on that, however, just did some reading n it and it will not affect the lift. Check if the rear has not sagged. I had a problem with my OME's not to long ago. It seems the jeeps do take a pounding on the rear. (Odd because there is no weight in the rear)

As said earlier on this thread, the swaybar disconnects/links do not affect the height of the vehicle, but limit the travel of the wheel

You mentioned that it seems they lifting the front not me mate. All i'm saying have you checked your rear shocks as they might have sagged.

I can't find the damn photo, Mine was about a month old before it started sagging. I have a pic on the ME4x4 sight but it is currently not working. Will link it asap.

My suggestion is take it back to the installers and sk them to check it out. You could also measure it yourself if need be.
