Where can I upgrade my stereo?

Post by dominoman » Tue May 07, 2019 8:47 am

I have a 2015 Pajero (yep another one) and want to replace the CD player / radio with a new touchscreen Apple Play / Android job.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a place that does it, and can provide some reliable and knowledgeable advice on the options?

Not sure on places... but do some googling to see which units you can get. The units are typically ISO or double ISO (used to be DIN) and you can buy facia adaptors to suit the gap the OE unit will leave when replaced with a standard double sized head unit.

They aren’t all automatically going to work with the steering controls but you get adaptive harnesses for most cars which marry up the correct pins in the head units to the control harness.

For the speakers, not sure if the OE unit has 4ch + SW - assume so for the 5d with Subwoofer in the boot. You will need to check the manual and cross check against the head units you are looking at.

Fitting if you have the right tools and accessories is straight forward.... I used to fit them routinely when I was a student working in the motor factors... could get any stereo out with one random removal key, was an eye opener for the punters.

Austrian Pajero forum is nice and active, lots of tinkerers on there too. Good luck.
