Radio channels to use for offroading

I bought myself a Boafeng radio for Christmas this year. Got it in the UK so I now need to set the channels to the right frequency for AD 4x4 club use.

Does anyone have the list of frequencies I should use?

Sorry if this has already been asked. I couldn't see it on the site.

Dear dominoman

Merry Christmas
For the channels we mainly use channel 7
With the frequency 462712
Try it if it’s working then all the other channels should be fine.

CH05 462.6625 *
CH06 462.6875 *
CH07 462.7125 *

PS depending on your radio you may not need to input the final ‘5’ as listed. That usually denotes a UHF channel and many radios don’t accept 4 decimal point frequencies...

Brilliant. Thanks. I'll check the radio and set it up for those channels. Looking forward to the next drive.

I'm struggling to program my radio. Apparently I need to know the output frequency, input frequency and type of squelch (CTCSS, DCS).

Is there a place in abu Dhabi that I can take my radio to get it programmed to the channels listed above? I don't have the knowledge to do it...

I finally got a cable and am programming the channels now using CHIRP.

One question. For the Tone Mode which of the follow should I be setting?
  • (None): No tone or code is transmitted, receive squelch is open or carrier-triggered.
  • Tone: A single CTCSS tone is transmitted, receive squelch is open or carrier-triggered. The tone used is that which is set in the Tone column.
  • TSQL: A single CTCSS tone is transmitted, receive squelch is tone-coded to the same tone. The tone used is that which is set in the ToneSql column.
  • DTCS: A single DTCS/DCS code is transmitted, receive squelch is digitally tone-coded to the same code. The code used is that which is set in the DTCS Code column.

I know this post is ancient, but it's the first result on Google for frequencies used by ad4x4.
I believe channel 13 should be 467.6875, as this matches the FRS channel 13.

Tone mode should be None in order to hear others.
