I had my JKR in for service this week and they tried to sell me a Mopar aftermarket dry air filter, because "I was going to need it". Is there really an advantage with such a filter? It's no longer in the plastic box but it's basically fully exposed under the bonnet. Offered for 2500,- AED including labor. Do or don't?

Not my favourite cup of tea as it is open to the elements. I personally prefer the Airaid setup as it is fully inbox which allows the use of a snorkel.

I'll think about it Khaled. I still don't see clearly what the advantage is of the Mopar filter, apart from lower maintenance perhaps.

Geert,

Forget the MOPAR filter - best option to protect your engine is the AEV Snorkel (with dust filter) - you will hear people talk about power loss but you will not feel it and you will benefit from spotlessly clean air filter, with no need to clean after every trip. Well worth the investment, and it will be less than the MOPAR!!

Im very happy with the Airaid and the snorkel. After I lost two cylinders and a cam shaft due to the stock filter and the sand it sank through the throttle... now all is good and clean and performance wise I 've noticed no differences.
