Tire Pressure on JKs - 35s AT

Post by K84 »

What tire pressure are you running with your 35s AT tires on your JK for daily driving?

33-35 PSI are a bit hard, 30 PSI feels more comfortable.

If you run 30 it might be smoother but the wear on the tire can increase, as well as fuel consumption. I keep mine at 35 psi.

Agreed. You could do same damage if you run a high pressure say 38 - 40.

I have 265 70 17 and run 35/36 psi all the time and Tyre's last a good 50k km and I'm in sand almost every weekend.

For optimum on road pressure do the "chalk test" - loads of youtube guidance available.
However in this climate whatever you set out at changes with the temperature through the day and use so its only a starting point.

I've had a box of chalk in my car for 13 months and still not done it yet despite good intentions and know it makes sense. I inflate 33" tyres to 36 psi at the end of a run. They are down at 33 to 34 next morning. Can see 38 + during the day and usually at this when deflating for the next run. My JKU is also my daily drive.

Conclusion - IMHO there is no magic number, play around and see what works for you :D

thanks for your feedback, I put them back to 35 PSI, cornering & highway drive is better now but the ride is too harsh over bumps.

anyway, its a jeep & it shouldn't be comfortable 8-)
